Hey guys- I am just setting up my basement darkroom again after having it dismantled/in storage for 4 years (I was sick and I guess they thought I wasn't gonna make it )

anyway, going through the boxes from the storage area, I came across both paper, chems, and film.

I am trying to figure out what items may be OK, and what items I should just toss- money is definately an issue- so I would if at all possible want to use anything that is still good...OTOH, just trying to get started again I certainly don't need additional variables in the process.... any feedback would be appreciated.

Here are my thoughts so far-again these items were all purched fresh 4- 4.5 years ago in late 2004:

___Items I think are definately usable_____

4x5 TXP 320- been stored in cool place

2/3 bottle of Agfa Rodinal-

___Items I'm not sure about:___

4/5 bottle of HC-110

Various fibre VC papers

UNOPENED bottle(s) of Formulary PMK A&B solution ????? any chance here?

2/3 bottle Kodak Seleium toner?

2/3 Bottle of Agfo Neutal WA?

2/3 Bottle Edwal Platinuim II print Developer?

2/3 bottle LFN?

Dry mount sheets?

____Items that should just be tossed (?)____

1/2 bottle TF-4 fixer

1/2 bottle Sprint hypo-clear

1/2 Bottle liquid Sprint D-76

Bottle of Edwal "Print Flattener" (I don't even remeber what the heck this stiff is or why I bought it)

1/2 Bottle Hypo-check?

All brown plastic bottles of working solutions (no brainer here)

Unexposed film from loaded film holders?

Exposed film from loaded film holders? (I got sick was pretty sudden)

Anyway- is there anything I have in the wong category???- any feedback would be great!!!!

Thanks in advance- looking forward to using this "extra" time on earth that I have been given to make some images- look out for me in the gallery hopefully soon-

The film should be o.k. Ditto for the paper. If the paper gives you fog, a little bit of potassium bromide will probably save it. The Rodinal should be o.k. Ditto for the HC 110; print flattener (probably only glycerin and alcohol). dry mount ok. Selenium toner, probably. Any of the print developers are worth a try. Ouch, myhead is starting to hurt. Too much for me to remember. BTW, welcome back.

PMK stock solution is good for at least 7 years well-stored. By all means test it on an unimportant roll or sheet first, but I'd have high confidence that it's fine.

Incidentally, congratulations on not dying. (Seriously, it sounds like you were very sick so it's good to have you here still.)

Thanks man- it's good to be alive.

Thanks for the tip on the papers- I'm glad to hear that the HC-110 should be alright- it does have a very slight pinkish cast in the bottle though.

I guess the paper developers will be simple to just try out- no risk there.

Glad you stuck around. Rodinal will last a very long time. The film should be fine, though it might have lost a half-stop or so. I imagine the hypo-clear and hypo-check should be fine. I've seen older stuff around my camera club that still works ok. I wouldn't toss out unexposed or exposed film from holders unless you think they were opened by someone or you've entirely forgotten what film stock it was and at what speed you exposed it. Even then, it'd be worth trying to develop or use. If in a dark, cool spot, they should have been just fine.
