True but then I am very sure that infinity will be in focus.

I will do a little test this weekend with my 24mm and 28mm zuikos and see how much I loose.

If anything that is in the front missing the focus then I will think about having just one safe stop.

Bear in mind that the original camera under discussion is doing 9x9cm to 4x5 in., so a reasonable enlargement would be less than 5x (around 16x20 in.).

This factors into DOF calculation (by determining the size of the acceptable circle of confusion). If you're printing Minolta 16 (10x14 mm) to 8x10 you have a lot less DOF relative to the camera focal length than if you're printing 6x9 cm from a box camera to 8x10 -- with the result that many box cameras compare favorably with the fixed-focus Minolta 16mm cameras for final print quality.

Hi Friends,

I made a upgrade to the Camera, now with viewfinder and a newly printed back with exact distance to groundglas (before it was 5.2 mm) now is 5mm. I also added a strap.

I played with the calculator, and it does seem to be print magnification factor, as a larger number reduces calculated DOF depth. If I'm looking at it right (comparing to a hyperfocal setup I know well), it's linear magnification factor in percent (i.e. 1500 is 15x which is a biggish print from the default 35 mm). I input the specs for my hyperfocal settings with a 105 mm on 4x5, and the figures are very close to what I've used when I put in f/16 or f/22 and Divisor of 200 (for 8x10 print from 4x5).

Interesting. I have a Wanderlust Travelwide 4x5 that was sold through a Kickstarter project a few years ago. It works great with a 90mm Angulon lens and I enjoy working with it. The Travelwide has a focusing helical that works pretty well and there was a pinhole provided with it.

I noticed another fellow is advertising a similar Will Travel camera design in various large formats on e-bay. If you don't need movements these lens cone designs seem to work well.
