39mm step up ring for Leica

I have a Marumi step up ring 39-52mm which I bought for my Summicron lens. Unfortunately the thread size is different and doesn’t fit the lens. Is there any step up maker that produces one for Leica lenses?

My 35 and 50 Summicron lens use a 40.5mm filter.

What was I thinking, of course 39mm is correct filter thread on my relatively new Summicrons.

I've had cheap rings and metal hoods whose threads were caked with the silver or black finish. I took an inexpensive filter and used the filter as a die of sorts to clean up the male threads on a cheap metal hood. I used a tiny amount of white grease to help. Shouldn't have to do this, but again it's cost/quality.

That's odd. Perhaps it's the wrong thread pitch, but in the case of E39 filter thread lenses I believe Leica use the common standard of 39mm x 0.5mm. For some other filter sizes they use a less common thread pitch - e.g., the E43 Summilux is 43mm x 0.5mm, but 43mm x 0.75 mm is more common outside the Leica world.

What vintage 35 and 50 Summicrons? Most M Summicrons up through the 1980s or 1990s used E39 (39mm) threads. The Apo-Summicron for the SL uses E67. The OP needs to tell us which lens he has.

All 39mm are not created equal. I have a 39mm Nikon filter created to screw into the back of a mirror lens. That filter will not screw into an E39 thread. But when it comes to front mounted filters, I have yet to come by one that doesn't conform with E39 and Marumi being an established producer of photographic goods makes me wonder what is happening? I own Marumi 39mm filters that mounts on old Leica 39mm lenses without issues.
Any issue with other 39mm filters on the lens?
As noted above, a manufacturing error is not out of the question, of course - but this is not the average Chinese-made-for-quick-profit no-brand product, unless it is counterfeit.

OK I made a mistake. The Marumi actually works just fine on the lens itself. I always have a yellow B+W on these lenses and didn’t realize it. So it’s the filter thread on the B+W filters that’s non standard then.on the outside of the filter that is.

Pretty much impossible. Are you sure the thread isn't distorted? Often if the thread has never been used the thickness of the black anodising can cause it to feel sticky until it's had a filter off and on a couple of times.

Marumi 39-52mm step up screws into the lens filter thread without any issues.
Marumi step up screws onto a heliopan red filter.
Marumi doesn’t screw onto any B+W 39mm filter that itself screw onto my lenses just fine.
I also noticed that I cannot stack two B+W E39 filter on each other. I have about 10 or so. None of them stack onto themselves.

I have stacked an ND onto my heliopan red filter. That worked as explained above but gave me heavy vignetting. That may very well be the reason why B+W doesn’t let you screw anything onto the front of the E39 filter.
I also found out that the thread on top of the B+W filters is not for stacking but to unscrew the washer that holds the filter glass itself.

I will use the step up ring on my lens directly going forward and our yellow and ND both in the step up ring.
