Hi

I was thinking of using 35mm film in my Bronica SQB while using the standard 120 back in order to expose the film around the sprocket holes. I was intending to modify a spindle to hold the 35mm cassette but I was wondering if the lack of backing paper will result in the film being scratched as it is bent round the film back. Anyone tried this or got any thoughts.

Thanks for looking

Hi,

What I have done few times is to re use the paper backing of the 120 film, cartridge and the adhesive tape that holds the film to the paper. Cut a 35 mm film on the same length of a 120 film and position it on the place where you had the original 120 film, then rewind the film on the direction as "unexposed" film. The film should be centered on the paper.
Now you will have 12 exposures on 6x6 format or 16 exposures on 645 and you can use the film backing to count the frames.
Here is a picture taken with color film and developed in conventional lab.

It works really well.

220 film doesn't have a paper backing, so I suspect 35mm won't scratch because of no paper.

Thanks for the advice.

DrZ thanks that is the look I am trying to achieve.

I have never used 220 film so was unaware it came without the backing paper, I will give it a go without the backing paper.

Cheers.
