Hello,

My daughter recently took up 35mm film photography and will be traveling to Italy. She will be flying out of
Venice Marco Polo Airport back to the U.S. and would like her film developed near Venice before her departure to avoid running her undeveloped film through airport scanners. Can anyone recommend a good film processor near Venice, Italy?

Thank you.

No APUG/PHOTRIO members have shot film in Venice and developed it there or nearby?

Thank you, koraks! She will likely go with Fast Foto Mestre as it is closest to Venice and has a 4.6 rating on Google from 70 reviews.

Yes, I suspected Venice itself would not have a film developer due to the cost of real estate. I believe there was one some years ago, but, no more.

Good, I hope the Google reviews are indeed accurate and that the business is indeed still active by the time she needs it. Please do post back, if you can, on how everything went!

Venice proper may also have fairly stringent rules about chemical handling and waste disposal - all of which makes operating a film developing business more expensive.

Hi! I live in Venice, but i develop my films by myself. Some years ago I went to https://www.fotofrancovenezia.it/ which is 5 minutes from the station.
I personally recommend Vittorio Pavan, you can write to him, he has an incredible historic archive and also develop and print analog materials

Thank you, Livili. Will definitely look into this.

UPDATE: At Livili's suggestion I emailed Vittorio Pavan and he develops only black and white. For color, he recommends using Fast Foto in Mestre, just outside Venice. Glad to hear he recommends Fast Foto as that is who my daughter was planning to use.

I investigated this and it’s a bit tricky in Venice, but Milan has some good labs if she doesn’t mind a train trip. Might be easier to mail film home!
