I know it sounds silly wanting to print so "small" a format on such a large format enlarger but i've been having some problems focusing my 50mm lenses (for large enlargements from 35mm ) using the Durst 138s. I have the right condencers installed but cant get the bellows "short" enough to focus. Are they specialized 50mm lenses for this enlarger? I tried a Meopta Anaret and an old Componon. Would one need a lens with a longer screw thread?
Regards,
Mario.

You'll need a recessed board. You need it for the smaller Dursts so I've not doubt a flat board won't work on the 138. You are using a flat lensboard?

Hi Mario

To print 35mm on the 138 you will need a LATUB 2 recessed lens board if you are using a 50 or 60mm lens. It will accept a 39mm thread as it comes but you will need a IXODAP adaptor ring if you have a lens with a 25mm thread size. Your condensor set should be the 130 over the 85.
Hope this helps

Regards
Gord

Or maybe you can use a lens with a longer focal length like 80mm or something? I don't think that need a Latub lens board, but I am not sure, since I haven't put my 138 together yet.

Normally a 75 or 80mm lens would be mounted in a semi sunk lens board called a SEIPLA. If you can get a hold of a LADANE carrier insert for your 5x7 carrier it makes life a lot easier enlarging 35mm to 6x9 negatives.
