Would any of you advise me to send this lens to nikon UK, to service it and get rid of the creep? Now it happens occasionally. Is it a cheap fix?

I've had a few lenses with creep and found that a rubber band was a really simple fix.

Why not email Nikon UK service department or phone them and ask them. Dead Link Removed

Should be a simple fix, usually they put in higher viscocity grease. Nikon had a lot of zoom Nikkors especially 80-200mm that were loose and many were sent back, I finally got my hand on a "loose" one and love it for action shooting, I can focus and zoom at the same time very quickly, much faster than a "tight" zoom.
