For primes, this is my three lens kit:
24mm/2.8 43mm/1.9 77mm/1.8

The 43mm probably get 80% of the work. The 77mm is great for candid portraits... but sometimes you need more reach so it can be replaced with a 100mm/2.8 or 135mm/2.5 as needed.


For zooms:
19-35mm/3.5-4.5 35-105mm/3.5 70-210mm/f4

The 35-105mm gets most of the work, it's very sharp and fast enough for most situations.

For my Mamiya 35mm I have a 28, 50, and 135mm lens kit. I only have a 50mm 1.8 for my Nikon film camera, also use the same lens on my digital camera.

If you live in a place with narrow streets you need wide angle.

If you live out on the range you need telephoto.

I live in a van ...down by the river
