3/8" tripod thread

I'm in the middle of making an L bracket to enable me to mount my shen hao 617 vertically on a tripod. The camera has 2 threads for tripod mounting one is the standard 1/4" whitworth but the other looks to be 3/8" does anyone know off hand wether its whitworth or UNC on the shen hao?

German standard says UNC thread for both sizes.

The difference would be small anyways.

The question is not about the pitch but the flank angle.
