Just got my 2 non-functional Nikon F5's back from Gram! They look and sound great. Never thought I would be able to get them repaired, but he did it!

He even replaced the upper and lower external plates with a new shutter control unit on the really beat-up unit with parts from a F5 DCS (NASA digitally modified camera), so it looks the World better. Only compromise there is losing the multi-exposure capability, which I approved before he did it. I never use that function anyway on a F5...

Also, the MF-28 data back was not repairable, but again, I dislike data backs, so no problem there either.

Highly recommend his work!

Now to go shoot a test roll in each.

The level of skill needed to do such work never fails to impress me.

I need someone to service my Canon EOS Elan 7E.

Out of curiosity, what aspect needs servicing on yours? I have two of these that I regularly use, so always curious as to what kind of defects may crop up eventually.

Canonitis, the mirror bumper foam degrading, getting on the shutter, and causing this effect on the 1/750 and faster speeds. The strips of paper soaked in alcohol and worked through the shutter blades fix helps, but seems temporary and it would be great if a professional could restore worry-free use of those speeds for 10+ years. I think the below image was 1/3000, usually it's not anywhere near this extreme. The effect is much worse in portrait orientation shooting.

I see, thanks so much; these are things to look out for then. I'm familiar with the sticky shutter issue on an old EOS1000F; I was hoping that the later Canons were less liable to this defect. I suppose they just take a little longer to get to the same place.

Sorry for the diversion; let's go back to the successful repairs of these two F5's - congrats @Kino and also @Gram Nylén !
