I'm sorry to ask such a dry question but as you imagined from the subject line...

I'm looking for the lens cap size of the Kodak 250mm Wide Field Ektar...

I just got a beautiful example of the lens and want to continue to protect the unprotected lens.

Thank You

The threads are series 9, I believe, so it might take an 86mm snap cap (but probably not an 86mm screw-in cap). The original cap is a velvet lined metal slip-on cap. You could measure the outside and see if there's a Schneider or Kaiser cap that would fit. S.K. Grimes makes very nice custom lens caps, if you want to go that route.

You can also make your own, as described here:

I once embarked on this project for a 20mm lens for a 35mm camera. I'd lost the original cap, and replacements were ridiculously expensive. I got most of the way through when I found the original. The replacement is perfectly functional, but needs coverings to look pretty. I'm keeping it in case I lose the original again.

Corey, I too have had the same lens for 20 years and could never find a front and rear cap. I went to the grocery store one day and went through all the plastic lids from cat and dog food cans and found the two I needed. The front is 90mm outside and the rear is 85mm outside. They fit very snugly and after 20 years are still white and fit perfectly. You might try a Container Store if you have one. Total cost was 2 cans of dog food. My pooch at the time was happy.
