I have a 24" Red Dot Artar in a barrel and separately a pristine Ilex #5....but not currently in shutter. SK Grimes $300 to fit.

Thanks for the reply, Hap.

I'm interested. I have a lathe and have put a number of lenses into shutters, so there's a bit of savings there. What price were you thinking of for the lens and shutter?

other than shuttering the lens, you probably would have to engrave a new aperture plate. otherwise the ilex is really excellent

Your WTB kind of caught me snoozing as these parts have been sitting around a while. I'd have to look into the prices. If you want to make an offer, go ahead.

Looked into prices. asking prices are in a range 1500 - 1700+ in shutter. I've seen them copal #3 and Alphax and shorter focal lengths in ilex 4's.

I have to get mine out and make certain I'm not misleading you in any way. the lens pretty pristine and so is the shutter. shutter needs a new aperture plate engraved.

If you still are interested I could give you a price for both and you save money if you can mount it. Lens has front cap..not sure it has a rear cap. It's mounted on a board.

Keith:

I'll have to do my homework, too. Not sure I'll have the time to do the mounting.

The backstory is this: maybe ten years ago, I took a family picture - 12x20 with a 24" RDA factory installed in an Ilex 5 that I picked up cheap from a retiring pro. I can't find that lens. I have a terrible fear it was stolen from my car and I didn't notice (I have a lot of equipment).

The family gathers every year at a house in New Hampshire (where I am now). They'll be here in the next two weeks, and I wanted to retake the picture. The lathe and other equipment is in New York.

I'm hoping another "angel" will respond to my appeal.

Plan B is to reshoot a 40 inch long No. 10 Cirkut camera picture I took 10 or so years ago. Gotta spool some film for it, though, and hope I can find the 16 1/2 inch artar I used. No idea if the old aerial film I've used is any good.

I've been wanting to sell these items anyway and I nver get around to it. I spoke to grimes and I could have mounted by them but my Phillips 8x10 is long gone.

I have a late version when Schneider took over Goerz.
I can sell it for $1350 if it suits your budget

Heads up, a person that scammed me has this thread as the last thread they looked at. See post I put in classifieds. Buyers beware. If you are interacting with a person with no history on the forum that wants to make a transaction then keep your wits about you.

Many thanks for the heads up. Yes, the scammer did contact me, as pyreclick, using the photo from bmw760's ad. That was one reason for the 'wait and see' delay in taking action.
