You know I've tried to ignore this thread. I promised myself I would stop after building the 11x14! You guys are killing me!!!

Jim

Jim,

It would be just as easy to build a 20X24 as a 11X14.

There is going to be a Chamonix shoot out next Sunday morning at The Walt Disney Concert Hall. Three Chamonix ULF cameras will show up, 7x17", 8x20" and yes, a 20x24". Tri and I are trying out a Zeiss Protar V. F/18 46cm lens on that camera. Tri is going to make a platinum print if we have a good negative. 5-6 people will be there and shoot and have breakfast afterward.

Hugo,

I just had a business trip in LA and went down to the concert hall to shoot myself this past weekend. Sorry I missed it by a week! I had my 10 x 12 with me as I can't haul the 20 x 24 with me on business trips!!!!! Can't say I made anything spectacular but then that is hardly the point as it was a great day outside of the hotel.

Hope ya'll have a great day. I love Tri's work--pass along a hearty virtual hello to everyone from one out east who is afflicted.

best,

Monty

Hugo, is that tomorrow or on the 18th? If it is the 18th I may be able to make it. Let me know. Thanks.

Jim,

It's 18th. Please join us at the parking lot across the concert hall. Park your truck at the ground level and walk to the top level. Let's get there around 7. My cell phone is 909-576-1199.

Hugo, If all goes well at work it should be no problem. My cell is 805 558-1700. I'll be there by 7am.

Easier, in fact.
While not elegant (or finished yet!) My 20x24 is functional, though I have only built a 16x20 back for it so far. Built from mostly scrounged materials. (I finally got my focusing leadscrew in, the spring clamp was keeping the focusing stage from running out)

Not bad at all, I weighed it's parts at about 24#, add a lb or two for knobs and such, mountable by one person, thanks to the demented, psuedo arca type release plate on the bottom. I need to work on the tripod/head situation, probably end up going the surveyor's tripod route with a hinged board style tilt head. (I'm sure I'll never see my huge Baco tilt head again)

Hi Hugo and friends,
I'm glad to see this post and looking forward meet every one up there on the November 18th. Can I bring my non –Chamonix 11x14 along? This is also an opportunity for someone whose want to check out the Chamonix camera in these formats. I am sure it will be a fun and exciting day. Again please joint us if you can. TT
Monty,
Thanks for the nice words. Too bad we missed you. Please let us know when the next time you in town so we can meet . Keep up the good work and please keep them coming. Best, TT

Wow, I am impressed Erie. That is pretty light weight for a 20x24. Great job, and by the way when do you start taking orders. I'm in the process of putting together a cardboard fixed focus 20x24, I want to make sure I really am up for processing those big sheets of film before I start building something real.

I can only offer this advice, beseler motorized base and processing tubes. I've been shooting 8x10 for years off and on, and never have a problem with tanks and hangers. Since buying a beseler drum and motor base, I only use the hangers for washing. I'll be test processing some lith film to check for fogging this week (hopefully) and will see if it's as easy as it seems for 8x10.

Tri,

Please bring that incredible beauty with you. Only 12 were made, I believe?

This must be headed to the King's residence.

Sandy,

Sounds like Santa is going to arrive a little early this year.....now where did you put those 20x24 film holders? ;-)

Well, Sandy? We are all waiting....coast to coast!

There is a 20X24 camera in there with a 12X20 reducing back. And a nice CD with manual showing how to set it up.

Right now I am looking for the 3/4" screw that attaches to my quick plate release so I can put it on a tripod. Somehow the screw got separated from the plate and I remember seeing it in the back of my SUV many times wondering where it came from. Now I know, but can not find the screw. Hopefully I will get this thing set up this evening. If I do I will take a snap with the Canong G9 and upload it here.

I'm on the edge of my seat!
