2 Rangefinders and lots of film..

This is what I brought back from a 800km long walk. Can´t wait to see how I did....I will drive to the lab tomorrow

on a serious note, the Yashica is a great camera. There are issues with getting batteries for it, but if you google it, there are workarounds. Not sure what the other camera is - a Contax of some sort??

Ups sorry. You are quite right it is a Contax T2. Maybe more a point and shoot than a rangefinder. Both
cameras made the trip without any problems, I am not sure if a digital could have done that.

Well film are not really that heavy. I had iso 800 ind one and iso 200 in the other and that worked fine. The ony thing I missed was faster shutter times.

My digital alternative is a Canon 5D. That would had been 2 kilo more that my filmkit, + I would have to take more care about protection. Whit the filmcam kit I did not have to worry about rain, bumps, thief ect. I just had them in the top of my backpack.

Sorry, I got this all wrong. Thought you'd picked up these two cameras while travelling, whereas you actually brought them along for the travel!

Yashica have not enough sharp lens but this is cheap camera. I got mine in mint condition and I'm using it every day.

I love my Yashica. Great camera and is built like a tank IMHO. I guess that is why I have two working GSNs. I also have one GS and one GSN, both needing repair because of electrical problems.... :rolleyes:

For batteries I use 4 357 button batteries electrical taped together and a sized bolt and nut the same diameter to extend it (although you could use a spring) wrapped in some stiff paperboard (to get the right diameter). It does the job and is cheaper than buying an adapter I didn't need.

The lens on that Yashica is plenty sharp enough, believe me. Unless there's something wrong with it, it should compare quite favourably with the best lenses of similar focal length and speed.

Nothing special, still I am quite happy.

After a few days is it easier to make a fool out of myself than making a good picture

Great shots. I don't care how old a camera is, as long as it works and takes good photos, KEEP IT and USE IT! My cameras may not cost much and may be old, but they are my friends.

For battery issue in my Yashica GSN I used a piece of clear vinyl tubing that is the perfect diameter for the battery compartment and the ID is also perfect for the PX28 to slide inside it. To make it all the proper length of the battery compartment I use a piece of wood dowel the same diameter as the battery with a hole drilled through the middle and a nail poked through and cut off to complete the circuit. The battery and the dowel are end to end and fit in the vinyl tube. Works great and is the right voltage. Make sense?

I was glad to se this village. It is raining hard and I am on my way down to Rieutort d Aubrac.
The whether on the Aubrac plateau is....just bad...always.

I took a little stylus epic with me and really enjoyed carrying such a small and sharp camera, weatherproof too! It was perfect for that trip. If you have any more photos, I would love to see them.

Well I can not say I did the whole, only from Le Puy to Santiago (2 times 4 weeks). I think the
walk starts where you live, I cheated and only did the last 1600km.

Well then, technically, I cheated too. I went from Pamplona to Santiago, although I can't really remember how long that was, so I've only seen the Spanish part. I've had it on my mind for some time now to get back to Europe and do some more hiking around southern France and Italy. We'll see.
No need to apologize about digital images. A beautiful photo is a beautiful photo regardless of how it was captured, and yours are certainly beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

The place is Conques, one of the big tourist attractions in France.Because of that it was a big privilege to sleep and eat together with the monks in the monastery. When the darks and the silence arrives...well you know what I mean.

I bought one Electro GS and one GSN at rummage sales recently and both had the old mercury batteries still inside and still running!
