1st time using HC110???

I am going to process a roll of Tri-X320 in HC110. I have never used HC110 before.
All of the data says using a development time of less than 5 min. may not work out.
But on the charts they only give dilution B and the time is 4.75 min???

What is a good dilution and time for this combo?
What about "H" and a time for Tri-X320????

I have used HC-110h with TriX 400 and I shoot it at 250. My time is 13-14 minutes, with 30 seconds intitial agitation, then 3 inversions every 5 minutes (ala Cardwell), 68 degrees F. I like my negatives a little over cooked so your time might be less. I realize that this is not 320 but if no one gives you a better answer at least you will be in the ball park with something around 12 to 14.

I have another method that I use for high contrast rolls of TriX 400, it is straight for Ansel Adams book. It is very forgiving: TriX (250) HC-110 (4ml/500), 28 minutes, 30 sec, 3 inversions per 5 minutes, 68 degrees F. I hope this helps.

the times are not correct. several years ago when kodak made some changes in trix these shorter times appeared and many at the time had a lot of ugly things to report about Kodak and their avoidance with letting folks know it was a mistake. Maybe PE can shed some light on the truth. Anyway, folks just continued to use their tested times as we know this is not a good thing, (less than 5 minutes)

Even before this the times for trix for our lab was too high and after some basic testing we have been using 6 to 6 1/2 minutes for solution B at 68 degress. Most of my students use 6 minutes but everyonce in awhile someone needs to move up to 6 1/2.

Be sure when mixing that you remove all the "syrup" from whatever your using for measuring as this needs to be accounted for with the ratio.

I found on the net that for "H" you double the time for "B" does that sound ok? since "H" is twice the dilution.
That would be 9.5 min @68 deg.

Try 1+63 (H), and double the old 1+31 times, for agitation each minute:
TRI-X Pan Professional / 65˚: 7 68˚: 61⁄4 70˚: 6 72˚: 51⁄2 75˚: 5

In OTHER WORDS, 2x 6.5 = 13 minutes !!

I bet a dollar that you'll be a little over-developed, but you never know for sure until you've gone too far.

You might try a flatly lit scene at first.

that matches what DF suggest. The Kodak HC110 pub states that Tri-x320, small tank at 68deg is 4.75 min. so if I double that I have 9.5 min at 68 deg.

the problem is that the 4.75 minute time is not correct.

you really need to test to be sure your getting the correct times with what ever ratio you decide to use.

I STRONGLY recommend that you follow what Jason Brunner says on that link and standardize on 1+50. As someone who used HC110 for many years, and put up with those lettered dilutions, KEEP IT SIMPLE and utilize Jason's dilution--the photo chemists might be able to tell us why 1-50 works so well. It is more than just KISS: it really gives a better negative, and Noodnik that I am, I had I never thought of using that dilution years ago.

If it gives you comfort, it might help to know that Jason Brunner's 1+49/1:50 dilution is effectively the same as Kodak's dilution "E" (1:48) which is a standard dilution, although not a well documented one.
