Well, decided to finally mix it up a little bit today. I had a couple of rolls of TMY that I new I wanted a little bit more than norm contrast in the negs. That's the way I made them. Might as well carry it all the way through.

So I decided to do some tinkering with my routine. I know there's more contrast between lower exposure zones and higher negative density zones. So I take my developing time down from six minutes in HC110 Dil 'B' to five and a half. Baby Steps.

But I don't want the prints to be to dark so I increase the agitation. Instead of five initial agigtations and two every thirty seconds, I make it ten initial agitations and three every thirty seconds.

I like the seperation in the negs. I'm gonna keep this in mind for rolls where my goal is contrast.

This is my first departure form the norm. Small little internal 'whoopie' goin' on here.

So you reduced development to get higher negative contrast? Are you a magician by trade? Increasing agitation, yes, no magic there.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

MORE development. MORE density. Less washed away in the fixer.

See, still learnin' here. See my fingers in the shape of an 'L' on my forehead. Learnin'.

I think I see why your family is laughing. If you can keep them laughing that way, you will all live long, enjoyable lives.

With some soups, increased agitation will have the greater effect in the higher neg densities. I do not know how sensitive HC110 is to the bromide released in the development process, though. But I think it's neat you are thinking aqbout stuff and looking at the results. Make sure you keep accurate notes.

I will. It's like things just took one huge baby step leap forward towards (the Ansel reader in me now) the further realization of my photographic vision. I just love it.
