Just for fun, I tried some paper that was found a few years ago in my father-in-law's workbench, Ansco Indiatone (code 423) in Kashmire white. The stuff went belly up in May of 1947, according to the label.

The attached image is one taken with a made lens (objective lens from a 7x50 pair of binoculars) on an Ansco 5x7 studio camera. The negative was contact printed- 30 seconds at f4. Slow stuff.

Sure do wish I had a pile of this stuff, but what are you going to do...

I guess it's rather mature :D

Flat, very slow . . . . . . . . and just a bit of fun to use.

BTW you look a lot younger with the new Avatar, I thinkits the whisky :D

Wow. Smoother than a baby's bottom. The print I mean.

Sandy,

I bought some Azo with an expiration date of 1927 and gave it to a friend of mine who printed on it with great results. The stuff seems to last forever.

I tested some AZO from 1946 a few years ago and it was still in very good condition, with a B+F only a bit higher than modern AZO.

I never would had tought the paper made way back when would be not be any good, but I guess I was wrong!

Nice. I think I have an unopened box of that same emulsion!
I also have a very old box of AZO sealed in wax since the day it was made.

Does anyone have pre 1935 Indiatone?

Came across the photo from the days when my dad's company Christmas party (Underwood Typewriter) included a photographer with a speed graphic. I think this one was about 1955 or 56. I think it is particularly good at showing the dumbo ears I worked so hard in the 60's to hide with long hair. Alas, I'm back to letting them flap in the breeze now that hair is thin and hard to find north of my nose. (Which is also benefitting from the whisky.)
