This is one of the all-black versions from 1931, complete with the original hood and cap.

This uncoated lens is renown as an excellent portrait lens, and was one of Leitz’s first fast lenses. Full of glorious aberrations when shot wide open, it gives a look unlike any modern lens certainly, and probably among its contemporaries (maybe the Hektor 5cm comes close). Stopped down to f4.5 or so, and the contrast and sharpness picks up markedly in the image.

I’ve just had Youxin Ye go over this beauty - he gave it a complete cleaning and lubrication, and it operates like brand new. The glass is remarkably clean, with a few bubbles in the glass visible. The aperture blades (of which there are many!) are clean and dry.

Youxin also found that the lens had at one point been disassembled and re-assembled incorrectly, and the lens would not reach infinity focus (I never noticed this as I used the lens up close). So now, this lens is better than it’s been in a long, long time.

This specimen comes with the original slip-on hood and cap (reversible too!), and aftermarket rear cap. There is no box. I will also include a deeper, more modern hood which does a much better job in certain lighting situations.

I've attached a few sample shots shot on my Nikon Z6.

Price is $1700 OBO net to me, and includes insured shipping in the USA. US sales only please.

I have no idea what that thing is, but looking at its buttery smoothness I have to say, I'd do some pretty sketchy stuff to get the $1700 you're asking.

Will you take my first born, an unlimited amount of perverse sexual favors, a cold case of beer, and a bologna sandwich I just made?

Ha!
I do like beer...

Just remember. the Hektor lens was named after the designer's dog.

Someone buy this already. I'm tired of it teasing me.

Someone please buy my lens so I can finance my large format ambitions!

If I wouldn't have to sell the RB67, two of my three F2's, and the F5 to finance it... I would!

I've been heavily considering the S2 you have as well... that's also been teasing me!!

What are your large format ambitions, if I may ask? Could a trade be worked out?
