That's insane. The go for like $200 on the bay.

That's new, not used.

Still.... new or not. $1700 for chasis only? And then you still have to pay for a head?

What makes these things so special? Because without a head, all it is is a piece of bent aluminum tubing....

If you adjust for inflation, that is what all those used Beseler 4x5 enlarger chassis' you see on eBay etc. sold for when they were new.

They are required to serve as a strong, stable and consistently aligned support for precision optical equipment, after all.

Eh, you can find it used. I wouldn't do it new unless you had to.

I could make one for much less than that.

(this was not an offer to manufacture!).

Steve.

It doesnt worth more than 150 dollars , as Steve said anyone can build it for 200 dollars price even using granite or marble.

I've got that enlarger, Chris. Come by and take it for a test drive some time so you can see if you really like it....

I saw that exact enlarger, with the Beseler color head and a lens turret (but no lenses), in a Goodwill for $250 a couple years ago (wish I'd gotten it...). And, my Omega D2 was given to me outright, with a dozen negative carriers, including a 4x5 glass one, and an Aristo cold light head. Enlargers just do not hold their value. I think the only reason to buy new would be if you were equipping a pro lab or a school, and wanted to know *for certain* that the equipment worked perfectly (or wanted a warranty)... even then though, it's an awful big price difference.

Judging by the overall goal of this thread, I highly doubt he is interested.

I plan on it... VERY soon!

Oh no... I'm very interested. I'll be heading over to Val's just as soon as I can get a day off.

This is why nobody buys a new enlarger. The old ones can sometimes not be given away, or they sell for low money, while new ones are as expensive as always. I'm surprised they are even available new.

I wonder how many Freestyle, or B&H actually sell per year...

Really need something! sit on ebay and wait, update newly listed every 30min, some people just want to sell and get rid of it. That's how I got my 45V XL with computerized head, DATA module (working) and 1 extra module chip for 200 bucks with buy it now. All the good stuff / deals with buy it now are sold probably within a couple of hours of listing, and usually by people looking to flip it as a business. For 200 bucks I could have flipped it for 4, and someone would have tried to flip that for 7-8. I've also seen it happen, item sold and two days later relisted by the buyer using same photos, hasn't even taken possession.
To the advert I say it is the same as everything. You buy a new car for 20K, or buy all the parts seperately and it costs you 100k. If interested I have a toilet seat off a US Navy battleship I'll sell you for 300 bucks, its been battle tested! PT Barnum was right.

Anybody see the box of hostess twinkies listed for $21,000,000.00 - 10 available- shop early the holidays are coming.
