Looking for suggestions...
There is only one 16mm reversal stock that I'm aware of available in double-perf: wittner chrome 200D, product number 2202. I have one can left, and tried to get more today, and was told that they have NO plans to release more in 2R, so I'm at a loss at to what to do. I can troll a certain auction site for expired ektachrome, as I've done in the past, but would prefer to use a fresher stock. Now, yes, I can use my camera that takes single perf (larger, heavier, less compact), or file off the 2nd row of sprockets on the one I'm using now, but would prefer not to, but in desperation I may. I have another camera that I enjoy using that must have 2R. I do all my own developing, so processing isn't an issue.

1.) I have heard there is someone in the UK that will add the second row of perfs if film is sent to him, but that doesn't seem realistic for me in the US.

2.) I can wait for the possibility of ektachrome in 16mm, AND in 2R, which I doubt will ever see. I can wait for Film Ferraria for the same, which may take years, or a decade, or simply not happen at all.

3.)I can use more widely available double 8, (I have some) but the length is SO short, and almost double the cost. I am prepared to file off the sprockets on my camera, but don't want to do so if patience will invalidate this approach.

4.) Kickstarter campaign to build a perforator, and just help out everyone else in my situation?

What does everyone else do, or am I the only one who actually buys double perf anymore?

I'm afraid your options are limited.

The guy doing the reperfing here in London (of acetate stocks only) is Edward Nowill. He can also reperf 16mm 2R to Double 8, if required.

Film Ferrania say they will be doing colour reversal in 16mm but who knows if/when it might come to market; not any time soon by the looks of it.

Kodak are reintroducing Ektachrome next year but it's unlikely it will be in 2R.

I'm afraid you might be stuck with "trolling the auction site" for 16mm 2R colour reversal. I bought a dozen cans of 2R this way a while back, expiry date 2002. I have two left if you want to trade for 1R.

cheers
phil

I am traveling and therefore away from my books but what is the history of double perf 16mm. I am curious because i have an Arri, a Beaulieu and several versions of K 100, all single perf. When was the last double perf camera made? What cameras made cameras for double perf?

The S 16 mm format on the film it appeared from the need to increase the quality of the registered image by increasing the film area on which the image is registered.
The 16 mm cinema format has a picture, a soundtrack and two perforations.
The S 16 mm cinematographic format has no soundtrack and has a single perforation, the image portion being larger.

The 16 mm film with two perforations began to disappear after 1980.
16 mm film was produced with a single perforation line.
It is probably possible to make 16 mm films with two perforations - on order, with a minimum number of boxes.
Those from Orwo have made us a few years - 35 mm positive films, with negative perforation.
