Hi guys and gals,

I found a box of 130 Paper Developer from Photographer's Formulary. I probably bought it about 3-4 years ago. The box is unopened, still shrink-wrapped.

Is this stuff still okay to use?

TIA!

Steve

"glycin is not particularly toxic, but it does have a relatively short shelf life. When fresh, glycin appears as a glistening white or gray powder. As it ages, it turns brown and loses its potency."

Hmmm... the glycin in my package is a medium-dark brown, so I guess I'll need to get some fresh stuff.

Thanks!

You may be able to purchase the correct amount of glycin from the formulary, and use the rest of your package.

Jim is absolutely right, except that you *will* be able to use the rest of the ingredients.

Incidentally, once mixed, 130 is very durable. I've used 2-year-old stock solution and gotten good results. The stock solution lasts much longer than glycin powder does.

That's good to know--I'm reassembling my darkroom after moving and not doing any work for a few months, and I have a fair bit of PF 130 stock left.

Thank you, all!
