Per Ilford's website, MG IV FB Glossy 12x16 50 sheet packages (cat no. 1833627) is available world wide. I'm in the USA and I'd like to get some. I tried B&H with no luck and called Ilford USA and got voice mail.

Anyone know of a USA Ilford dealer who stocks 12x16 paper?

Thanks!

Tony

Good Evening, Tony,

Unfortunately, 12 x 16 is not a paper size which is commonly available in U. S. photo stores; if you can't get it at a large NY store such as B & H, the chances elsewhere are likely to be even slimmer. One solution is to buy 16 x 20 and cut it down. You can always use the 8 x 16 portion for test strips or smaller prints.

Here is a link to Ilford Photo that has an email link to them if you can't find what you are looking for. Also, Simon R Galley who was part of the group that saved Ilford is a member here. He does see a lot of posts, so maybe he will see this one as well.

Perhaps they can include the non-US paper sizes during their next film special order period.

I got an email from Ilford USA and they don't import 12x16 to the USA. Even though an item is listed in Ilford's availability guide as available "worldwide" doesn't mean it really is.

So why does Ilford publish an avialibilty guide?

It is available to the US importer if they want to take it. It's not a common size in the US so they choose not to import it. I'm sure most importers worldwide who do not take this or that product because of insufficient demand in their local market.

A similar thing happens in the UK with 11x14 paper: very popular in the US, it is hard to find in the UK outside a couple of the large online suppliers because hardly anyone uses it over here.

Viva la différence! Bob.

I always thought 12x16 would be popular because you can cut it into two sheets of 8x12, which are the perfect aspect ratio for prints from 35mm negatives.

I will have to buy a hundred sheets or so when I finally get to England - that might be the only way to get it here.

If you check the J&C site (an APUG advertiser) you'll find 12x16 paper from Adox, Foma and J&C. J&C has by far the largest number of iterations including variable contrast and graded versions.

Curiously, Freestyle carries a 12x16 paper safe, but absolutely no such sized paper that I could find.

And they and or B&H have the trays. Dan

I sent Ilford USA an email asking if 12x16 could be special ordered. If they reply I'l post their response here.

Thanks all!

I ordered some Adox/Foma 12x16 paper from JandC and asked about Ilford MG IV in 12x16. John says that he can order it from Ilford and that it takes 4 to 6 weeks to get. So if you are in the USA and want 12x16 Ilford send John an emil letting him know.

There might be light at the end of the tunnel after all!

I've emailed Freestyle about the 12X16 size in Kentmere paper and they said they could get it. Maybe it will be the same for Ilford?

We can get any European metric sized paper that is made. We just need a few weeks to get it from Europe. We will be including these papers on our new special order page shortly, so you can place these orders on line without a problem.
