Great paperweight, but for someone who is looking for a lens that is sure to break your camera, this might be just the thing. It weighs a bit more than 2.5 lbs./1 kg. It definitely needs cleaning of its glass surfaces, stuff needs to be removed - chips of paint, etc. - from inside the elements. It has a working aperture, which is adjustable by sticking something in one of the holes in the slot (which you can see in the pics). The whole thing is actually a bit wider than it is long. You can see separation inside around the edges in the pics, also.

I have no idea what anything like this would be worth. I've even searched in the classifieds for xenon, and found nothing like it. So, what I propose is that I leave this up here for awhile and see what comes back. If you think you need one of these, let me know (I guess via pm) what you would be willing to pay for it. I may edit the post to show what the highest number is (assuming there IS a number) so that others can see if they want to improve on it. Best offer. I'll try to limit this to a week or so - I won't be definite, because I'm sort of a flake about checking in.

Shipping depends on where you are, which can be discussed. I will ship for actual cost.

I wouldn't list this on LFF in this format, I tried to list an item as a sort of "auction" over there since I didn't know what it was worth and they made up rules on the spot to say "auctions" are not allowed, I was really just accepting best offers. Anyway just wanted to let you know so you won't have to go through what I dealt with on that forum. Good luck selling this beast!

From a thread I found on LF, it's designed to cover 6x6.

Looking via google, there are photos of this lens in a mount with aperture.

From the VM:

Xenon f2.0 125mm This certainly was an aerial lens, from WW2, originally for Handkammer HK 12.5/7x9 or Rb 12.5/7x9 mounted camera. This was from the firm of Fritz Voelk of Berlin which was destroyed by bombing in WW2 and seems now forgotten. The lens came on the market postwar in fair numbers and was mounted for miniature cameras. Some were coated, but not on all surfaces on that seen, and this may be repairers work as the latest number seen was not coated. Those seen were engraved as made by Schneider (not ISCO), Goettingen, though the serial numbers are anomalous at No48,04x, 44,92x, 51,81x and 57,283 (uncoated) suggesting that a new series of numbers was being started there. The iris only closes to f11. It is a foreward looking lens, sharp and contrasty and covering nearly 6x9 but not 5x4.

OK. I just changed it here, and probably won't crosspost anyway.

Here's a thread over on Large Format Photography Forum:

http://www.largeformatphotography.info/forum/showthread.php?t=33715&page=2

There's a rather fine night image made with one of these.

Here's a link from that site to a page about the camera it came from: http://www.novacon.com.br/odditycameras/GXN.htm

Ole Tjugen has posted the Compound shutter dimensions: http://www.largeformatphotography.info/forum/showpost.php?p=223663&postcount=1

Also, I see that the interior glass surfaces seem to be fine. The front and especially the rear surfaces are in need of work. The paint chips seen in my pix just fall out when the elements come apart, but, of course, new chips end up there soon after.

It was from a Luftwaffe camera. Interesting history.
