Yeah but if you can't see, you can't see. The issue is in detaching the paper ahead of time which is usually unnecessary.

Unfortunately due to space in my tiny, central Sydney apartment, I have no other option! Certainly I don't have anything close to the space to build a darkroom. We make do with what we have I guess!

Blacked out bathroom? It's not like you need to set up the developing stuff or need it for long.

Before I had my darkroom set up I used the guest bath, which has no windows, to load sheet film holders. I'd use a changing bag for film developing if I had to, but not for loading holders - dust is too much of any enemy. Worked fine. Even a closet big enough to hold a chair and tiny folding table, with a towel stuffed under the door and the lights outside off, would be better.

Not picking on the folks who need one, just never having used one the sorts of things in this thread don't necessarily occur. I HAVE found I was missing the tank lid - put the film inside my paper safe, which I could find by feel, and turned the lights on, so that worked out.

If you're ever missing your tank lid, just flip the tank over and place it on top of the film/reel. Then go get the lid.

I have a darkroom, actually two one wet one dry, on the West Coast. I do not have a darkroom on the East Coast so I load my tanks and 4x5 film holders in a changing room.
