For people who use the M&M containers... How well do those actually work? Because I've held one of those up to strong sunlight and it lights up so it's not very light tight. Do you wrap them in black electrical tape or gaffa tape before use?

I just use the M&M containers as is. I probably should wrap them up in tape, but have never gotten around to it, as I keep the M&M containers in my camera bag.

My main purpose for using them is more to protect the film from unraveling as I don't entirely trust that little piece of tape (although this has never happened to me.)

The M&M containers are not all the same size. If I remember correctly, the greens don't fit and the browns do. But it could be the reverse.

Speed Graphic sell the Hama Filmsafe-X, suits 2 x 120 or 4 x 35mm. Sand, water resistant and X-Ray to ISO 3200 @ £3.95. Sounds expensive, but just how important are those shots?

Hmm I didn't see brown ones when I went buying them in the US. I just got blue ones because the other options were yellow or pink (I think).
I'd say a lead bag is a little over the top, and would weigh you down if you want to carry more than 2 rolls of film...

Take a roll of film with you to your local pharmacist (chemist) - prescription vials are watertight and also offer some light protection.
