Hi all! I’m currently cutting down the massive roll of Aerochrome I got, and a few folks asked for 120-width film. I have been looking at ways to protect the film from light that can be re-used when the roll is finished. Unfortunately, I don’t have a solution for that. I use aluminum foil to protect rolls now, which cannot be saved for re-use. I know that some companies use black cans to protect 120/220/127, but the only canisters I can find are already branded, so don’t particularly want to use them for rolls I am selling . Does anyone know where to get these canisters? Are they even still made? Or is there someone who just has a massive stockpile selling them off?
Not looking for that, just looking for single roll containers, not big ones like this. these will not be for my personal use, they’re for film I sell.
I did actually find this, but I have no idea how the dreaded T word will affect the price, or even if they’ll change, so I’d rather not order from China at the moment if I don’t have to.
I have seen that, but again, it already has branding unfortunately.
Use a little piece of aluminum foil, just like what you're been doing.
Lavials VL20H
I bought a few rolls of Adox 120 film who pack it up in these reusable canisters and I just saw the branding at the bottom. Interesting, and a US made product. Googled around but so far only find the clear version. Found also an early APUG reference https://www.photrio.com/forum/threads/roll-film-failure.111333/post-1472679
From Ken's post, this is the same store but only sells them (Black included) in bulk, but there is a reference to Glass Key Photo.
From B&H, a product similar to ones i obtained over 30 years ago...
Yeah I saw this, and thought of doing a group buy, but it just seems too niche to be worth it for most folks. I could be wrong, but judging from the response to this thread, doesn’t seem like there’s much interest.
Or, smaller quantities purchase:
Lavials containers in smaller quantities.
ESDplasticcontainers.com now has a selection of Lavials containers with no minimums.
They only have the clear ones, I’ve actually emailed them to ask.
I actually found that same product a while ago and bought one because there were no minimums, unfortunately it is too small for 120/220 (and the reviews on B&H also say this).
How many of these are you looking for. I might be willing to part with a few. I used them way back when offering wedding/event coverage..
I’d be looking for 10 of them, but I was planning on shipping the rolls out tomorrow… I’m seriously considering getting a load of these next time I do the astrum order though. Could be good for that film as well.
You could simply wrap each roll individually in aluminum foil, shielding them from unnecessary amounts of light in transit.
