Does anyone know what a Kodak 114a Wratten Filter is used for? I saw a reference to one listed on a camera report from 1946 (black and white). I see them on Ebay, but there is no details listed and chances are, if I bought one on Ebay, the filter envelope isn't going to tell me what it is or is used for anyway. Anybody know? Thanks.

I checked on 4 comprehensive tables including Kodak's and in all cases the highest number listed is 106.

All I know is it's a special purpose filter for scientific use having something to do with spectral analysis of certain materials. I have no clue what the pass band is.

It appears all those eBay photographs are the same specimen, so the sales of that filter may be a scam.

Bill, I only see one listed worldwide.

I see now the ID is the same in all listings. So not a scam, I just saw website consolidators referring back to that one single listing.

Perhaps a quote from Fats Waller is applicable here; "If you don't know what it is, don't mess with it." Why would you buy it?

I asked the guy sell it on Ebay if he knew what it was. He said "haven't a clue."

Wow, great. And I searched and search and found nothing. Perhaps its an early UV filter? I wonder if its similar to a 2A, 2B or 2E or if they replaced the 114A. I'll have to find a copy of the book, thanks...
