I have a project I am going to work on this week.
At the beginning of a conference I need to take photos of couples/guests AND record their names. Next day I need to print the photos and mark them with the couples/guests names.
I am planning to take the photos, and
1. have a blank sheet and i will ask them to fill in their names one after other, and
2. record a video of the whole portrait session (2hours) including audio where I also voice record their names and the photos I take.
Have you ever done something like this? I was thinking to record audio to the camera file but I have never done this before. I have a 5D mark Iv and a Canon r5. Is this a proper way to ensure all photos are assigned with the right photos? I just don't want to mix up the names and assign the wrong name to the photo.

Small whiteboard, get them to write their names on it, include it in the frame....take one shot with and one without if you need to.

I would trim things down a bit. Instead of a 2 hr video, why not just have the people write their name on a card as suggested, along w/ a phonetic pronunciation? Then take 2 pics of each person (I would take three, just because), one w/ the card, and one or two w/o. I say one or two pics because, believe me, you will see a difference in each shot.

Pre-number the name cards. Card 1 goes with the first person/couple, card 53 goes with the 53rd person/couple, and so on. Or use the whiteboard method above. If the lab can do backprinting, name your files with the person's name so it's easy to find later.

Thread moved.

If they're going to write on the whiteboard themselves, just make sure you can read their handwriting 😁

Recently I faced a similar problem and before each session, on the camera I was taking pics with, I recorded a video clip of them saying and spelling their name. They don't even need to be in the shot, it's just an audio memo. Then I had a folder in chronological order; video followed by photos etc.

This could work well when a whiteboard is impractical or takes too long. But I really like the whiteboard idea as it saves time in post.
