I was looking over Freestyle's website & noticed the low price. I don't bulkload but it might be worthwhile putting a couple of spools in the freezer as an incentive to start.

Not old. Expires July 2006. Got a roll last week to check. I ordered two more, and though I'll likely use it up before the expiration date, it'll keep a good ten years in the freezer.

Is this re-branded Ilford, or some kind of mystery film?

If this is the "Arista Pro 50" it is re-branded Ilford Pan F Plus. Good stuff.
