I’m coming up on 10 years of rediscovering film for my photography. It’s been about 6 years in the darkroom as well.

I’ve shot ~650 of color negatives
200 some rolls of slides and about 470 rolls of B&W.

I started shooting mostly color negative film Back in 2012/13 it was super cheap. I filled my freezer up with Ektar which was 3500 yen for a five pack or $27 usd. Provia 400x was my choice of slide film. It was 4500 yen for a five pack and I picked up a box every time I went to the lab to drop off film.
I bought a box of 100 rolls of Kodak gold for 10,000 yen. Still sitting on a decent chunk of this frozen film and I’m really happy I went overboard back then.
I’m not seeing adverse effects on the expired film.

I tried many B&W films and developer combos. Same goes for paper and paper developers. Many got discontinued or were temporarily unavailable etc. and eventually settled on the standards. Always available and if I want a different look I can use toning and or lith for example. Much happier in the darkroom now.

I started with a make shift darkroom in my bathroom and now have a dedicated room with two enlargers.
It’s been one of the best hobbies I’ve picked up in my life. Wouldn’t want to miss all the time I spent on streets shooting and nights in the darkroom printing.

Happy film anniversary! I'm jealous of your two enlargers set-up - which I had space for that in my little 5-jo darkroom!
