Maybe there's some need for service? On my ETR cameras this lock has worked always perfectly. You need to remove the slide quite a bit to be able to shoot.
We must be very careful because it might be just a case of cleaning and lubrication. And, if weak magnet is the case, such solenoid...
Camera technician here...
1. Was the camera serviced periodically?
2. Did you attempt to bring it to an actually GOOD camera technician like Frank Marshman?
I understand your concern, however the GS-1 was the third electronic system they designed, after the ETR and SQ. I have enough...
Sirius Glass, advocating for Hassy...
So nice to see the tradition never changes in this group.
Cheers from the Bronica war trench...
And, to the question: "Anyone Still Using Bronica?". Yes, i just bought another body one week ago, a ETRS. To add to my collection of accesories and MC/E/PE...
I'm as impressed as you! -- when i wrote "I thought they could do better", i meant the Pentax 17 camera. The success is unbelievable! No doubt a new film camera will be coming next, maybe a variation on the Pentax 17.
That's great for them. I thought they could do better.
I had the chance to test a Pentax 17 in barcelona this January.
In short:
Pros:
Brand new camera with guarantee
Solid construction, feels well made overall
Easy to hold in the hand, ergonomic for the hands
Rather light for the size (see...
As a photographer that owns two pre-war and four post-war Contaxes, but most importantly, as a camera repairman who actually has repaired more than one post-war Contax camera... I need to point out the following
No, it is not. The pre-war Contax shutter is rather complicated. The post-war...
I dare to say all (ALL) tele lenses on the FD system are great, i've never been dissapointed. And i've owned the Nikkor 105/1.8, 105/2.5 (AI) and 85/1.8 (pre-AI and K). Which are great lenses too.
The FD new 85/1.8 is absolutely superb. As good as my Nikkor K 85/1.8 -a lens I love- but much...
I've tried one but it looked way too much money for what it offers.
For the price they could have put a much better viewfinder. Just to start with the criticism... which could go on and on (why it is so BIG?)
I never liked that much the Demi nor the Olympus Pen EE series.
I am not sure why you really need auto exposure. Setting manual exposure, manual focus and then handing the camera to another person will give you as much (or even more) chances of a better picture.
I have/had the Olympus Pen...
The New F1 is altogether a more ergonomic camera to operate and quicker to operate due to Aperture priority and Shutter priority AE (the latter enabled via using a winder).
I'd choose the New F1.
I think low shutter speeds are not the best situation for the Pentax 6x7. A RB67 or a TLR performs better in those situations. If I recall correctly I found a way to diminish shutter slap on the 6x7 via reducing the spring tension of the mirror actuator (i'm a camera tech), but I haven't tested...
I think yours are some of the best images captured with P30. Ferrania should hire you.
What is the ISO/EI you used it and which developer? Please. Exposure Index 64 with D-76 1:1.
Hey - I can get all of the above from FP4+, too, and it's cheaper!
Yes, I agree on your observations regarding tonal response. When the resurrected P30 appeared (2016), i was one of the first here -if not the first- to say that it appeared as being an orthochromatic film.
P33 is definitely...
Thanks for this info, I bought HR-50 because on tests Pan-F wasn't really better than Delta 100 (which on the other hand it's an outstanding film).
And I agree with the pricing, very reasonable in europe. I bought HR-50 and I also took the opportunity to buy Adox's Crafted for Henning Serger...
I'm a Pentax M-series fan, but there's no comparison on using a Pentax ME + 4 lenses (from wide to tele) vs a rangefinder + 4 lenses. The rangefinder kit is still lighter and smaller.
Yes i've had the Pentax-M 40/2.8 pancake lens too, on a ME. I'd better bring a Minolta 7sII (40/1.7) instead...
We can also add:
- Use a SLR if you need tilt/shift or shift lenses. Which are very relevant to me.
Exactly. The best camera is the one you have with you, and a more compact/lighter camera increases the chance of being there with you at the right moment.
And the size and weight difference...
Are they?
I'm at europe right now, a P30 roll is like 11 EUR while Adox CHS II 100 is like 8 EUR. The Adox is a real 100 speed film and technically very good. The P30 is a very strange film which, as far as i've seen on tests and sample pics/etc (and i've following P30 for years), it's not...
I thought Solaris was decent film. I saw a comparison of Solaris vs the then current (2005?) offerings from Fuji, Kodak and Agfa, and it wasn't bad at all, it was competitive. On some specific aspects (i think latitude) it fared actually better than the competition, while on others (grain) it...
That "rangefinder" on the focusing screen needs to be looked at in a straigtly orthogonal way. From the looks of the picture, your eye (or camera) is not positioned exactly orthogonal to the focusing screen. This will give you a focus error.
On the other hand, a BIG reason the current film manufacturers run their machines at full capacity, is due to the younger people who find film fashionable.
On the Amsterdam airport, the people who kindly accepted my film to be visually inspected, was between 20-33 years old.
