...motion picture film.
Eastman Kodak has no distribution and marketing rights with respect to any still film - those rights are owned by KodakAlaris (who were assigned them by the UK Kodak Pension plan - received as part of the Eastman Kodak bankruptcy).
If your Ektachrome was movie film, you...
Eastman Kodak may not be willing to cooperate to the same extent with Sino Promise.
Much of KodakAlaris is made up of ex-Kodak employees - there are long term business and personal relationships there that Sino Promise may have difficulty replicating.
There are two references on the Sino Promise website to KodakAlaris.
The November 1, 2020 announcement about them completing the purchase from KodakAlaris of that portion of KodakAlaris' business described as "Kodak Alaris's imaging products (Photo Paper, Photochemicals, Display, Software)."...
They also have production facilities.
Anyway, we already had the same discussion about KodakAlaris and Sino Promise group some months ago:
https://www.photrio.com/forum/threads/kodak-alaris-deal-with-sino-promise-holdings.176534/
Sino Promise Group is a large distributor.
If you bought KodakAlaris products in the past from a retailer, that retailer purchased them from a distributor - quite possibly Sino Promise Group.
As their site says "As the world's largest distributor of Kodak imaging products, SinoPromise acquired...
Well, on the site of the new owner there is a page dedicated to KodakAlaris with a variety of Alaris' products, including film, but excluding the whole data business "Actionable Intelligence".
Thus from there the whole halide business, being part of the Alaris section "Kodak Moments", seems to...
A strangely worded story, as KodakAlaris owns a number of businesses, which include, but are not limited to, the RA4 paper and (presumably RA4) chemistry business that seems to be the subject of the sale.
...(hopefully we can do this again soon) much more convenient.
With left-over change, I would buy the film divisions of Eastman Kodak and KodakAlaris. Unlike others, I would not lower the prices as that could likely drive manufacturers like Harman, Foma, ADOX and Fuji out of business -...
Well, I've been away. Have just returned from my vacation on Mars. Indeed, it is way too close for my way of seeing life. BTW, in case you get an offer from your travel agent, there is nothing to see. Prospectus I was given is just full of flashy photos, all shot in HDR, and absolutely nothing...
I use XTOL almost exclusively. This video doesn’t mean much to me.
The FACT is that KodakAlaris is in turmoil. Whether justified or not, social media, like that of this charming young person, put out all sorts of opinions. Often these opinions are interpreted as fact. I've been using XTOL...
The question is surely: can we be sure that KodakAlaris has not now got its stuff in order? The video makes no specific mention of what is now inferior in the new Xtol compared to the old Xtol. Do those two graphs and the lady's statement indicate for certain that new Xtol is inferior to what...
B&H has the Eco Pro in stock, 11.99 free shipping orders over 49 bucks. Problem solved until KodakAlaris gets their stuff in order. By the way the Legacy product uses Mylar packaging. Pretty darn good package.
...if you meant "Go disappear somewhere from my wife for a long time until I’m confident they’re on stable ground." :whistling::unsure:
You would, of course, have to make purchases from both Eastman Kodak and KodakAlaris. If you could pick up some of Eastman Chemicals as well, it would work...
When I complained that Ilford just says the specs/mottling problem is due to environment the film is in after it's out of their hands (or if film is expired), I wasn't saying the problem existed in the film before it left the factory. I understand how the problem could be an interaction between...
...rolls and have handled in exactly the same way that won't exhibit the problems.
I have a bunch of TMax 400 from the problem batches that KodakAlaris promptly replaced without charge. I use the "problem" rolls for testing and for other interesting projects. Sometimes I see the numbers and...
My issue was not from a bad batch identified by Kodak. In fact it was from replacement chemistry sent to my by Alaris after an earlier bad batch problem.
You are claiming something here without showing the proof. Basically you are doing same thing you are criticizng Adox.
I would trust Adox on this, we are talking about film manufacturers laborator here..
Your case wouldn't stand a chance in court. Adox didn't say anything about new XTOL being inferior. The only one who said anything normative was the blogger herself, whom as far as we know is not an Adox representative. Even if she is, there's little chance for legal prosecution of one company...
Exactly.
Also, Lina Bessanova has been on Youtube for quite awhile, and has a good following, long before she was that close with Adox. IMO Adox have been one of the best and most open companies in the current environment. I do get tired of people always looking for ways to attack one of the...
So Adox does analysis of old vs. new XTOL, they find a difference, it's shown in the video of a blogger who may or may not be independent, and Adox decide to make a developer to approach the test results they got from the old XTOL. What's the hubbub about? Nothing stands in the way of...
You know me, I don't like the recent KodakAlaris.
This time I fell off my chair when I watched this video.
I don't like Adox move when it relies on bloggers to do such videos and I don't like them this time about KodakAlaris Xtol without carring evidences also.
Bad move.
It is indeed sad to see what happened to Kodak brand. I just bought Kodak's Data Book for Applied Photography from the 1970's in 5 volumes. Going through these pages makes one wanna cry. It's not about nostalgia, but rather the effort into making that kind of data available to the marketplace.
I was hoping that the Eastman Kodak and KodakAlaris film businesses would be taken private similar to Ilford.
Right now Ilford is being run like a real company. Bringing out new products, a very enhanced presence on the web. Good job!
...directly involved in still photography product marketing. They were looking to save their motion picture film business.
At the same time, KodakAlaris was most focused on the largest part of their business - the manufacture of paper for colour photofinishers.
The still film world was in...
I followed it well. (https://www.photrio.com/forum/threads/kodak-raising-prices-in-2021.179226/page-2#post-2339669)
I don't agree at all about the behaviour Kodak sports, but you should understand the situation. Alaris is the exclussive distributor of Eastman Kodak products, and Alaris is...
...of parts, some of which became successful on their own (e.g. Eastman Chemical) after making some hard decisions.
People complain about KodakAlaris, but at least they have managed so far to keep the film and paper and chemical business under one roof. Post bankruptcy Eastman Kodak would...
