...is a batch that is dis-coloured. And volumes are such that there may not be a lot of different batches out there at any one time.

If you have Catalog #1058270 (Batch 2020/01/23...
Thanks, I'm going to toss it and I ordered more. B&H, Adorama and Freestyle Photo are all on backorder, Samy's Cameras is sold out...maybe that's why companies like Mel Pierce are selling oxidized garbage online (for double the price). I found another seller on Amazon, so hopefully this batch is...
You should contact KodakAlaris, tell them you've got one of their bad batches of D76, and get them to replace it.
Assuming you've got one of the bad batches. :)
You'll need the envelope with the production details on it.

It is a shame, but presently some Kodak chem has QC issues, reportedly paper and chem section owned by KodakAlaris (Not Eastman Kodak that manufactures film) was sold to a chinese company and perhaps they hired Harry Potter, or Mr Potter was hired by Alaris, who knows?... I feel bad when I...
...that their sales projections are such that they don't feel that they can make their money back from that process.
Both Eastman Kodak and KodakAlaris are short of capital, and they are devoting a lot of their available capital to relieving the bottleneck of production on their more in demand...
From the KodakAlaris website:
Update: KODAK PROFESSIONAL DEKTOL Developer / Packet to make 1 gal (CAT# 516 0270)
Recent batches of DEKTOL with date codes of August 2019 or later have been coming out darker than normal when mixed.
This is due to a non-photo active impurity. This has no...
I'd process a test roll, exposed under similar conditions, first.
(EDIT: I noticed KodakAlaris is giving an ISO speed of 1000 in the PDF file so the below is not up to date)
To be nit-picky, only a manufacturer can determine ISO, because the developer is to be established by the manufacturer...
KodakAlaris/Sino.
Eastman Kodak is a printing services company with a small division that manufactures photographic film and markets the motion picture portions of that production.
They have absolutely nothing to do with the other products that KodakAlaris/Sino sell.
...reasonable approach, but I would suggest that one-shot use of D-76 1+1 is more reliable for someone starting up again.
Be cautious about the recommended developing times for D-76. KodakAlaris doesn't have a current data sheet up on the web right now, because this older version requires...
...9.90€ is roughly $11.99 right now.
$18 for a single roll. $17 ea. when bought in a 5 pack.
I'm not entirely sure how you can blame KodakAlaris for Fuji's prices, but still. The real problem seems to be ars-imago's pricing-- which may be the result of the EU market, or it may just be...
It is something that the manufacturers need to deal with. From the KodakAlaris website:
"Update: HC-110 precipitate; August 14, 2020
We’ve had reports of precipitate forming in the bottom of unopened bottles of HC-110 developer
Our investigation has shown that crystals form with freezing...

In my opinion, just like speculation about KodakAlaris' licensing agreement with Eastman Kodak, those who know Kodak's marketing strategies aren't talking, and those who are talking don't know...
This isn't news, and has been discussed earlier on Photrio.
This notice was posted in August on the "Chemicals" page on KodakAlaris website.

Then again anoher https://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=172936 problem with the new Hc-110.
It seems troubles at KodakAlaris are never-ending...
But we can run around like chickens with their heads cut off screaming "We will all be killed", and that is ever so much more fun than waiting for this to work its way out. Besides there is really nothing we can do other than bitch.
As Matt explained, we already still do not know the details of Kodak / Kodak Pension Plan / KodakAlaris contract, and we even less know on the current contract with Sino Promise. Instead we are going circles since this discussion came up in July.
I expect that the mechanism is that KodakAlaris holds (held?) the IP, after it was assigned first by the bankruptcy trustee to the Pension Plan trustees, and subsequently re-assigned to their asset, KodakAlaris.
But there are too many inter-jurisdictional complexities for me to know with...
Thanks, Matt. I presume all the manufacturing is done under license to Kodak (or to the Kodak pension plan, but somehow formulas get controlled/verified)?
No, they own those products now, and are entitled to use the Kodak name on them - that is what KodakAlaris owned before the sale. All manufacturing is/was done under contract by generally un-named third parties, although the paper is being produced in the Carestream facility in Colorado. At...
Sino Promise speaks of photochemicals, not of colour photochemicals. Maybe they do not differentiate as the still film busines is insignificant to them.
But one should not overlook the different lab situation throughout the world. Here in Europe there are hardly any colour labs, In Germany...
KodakAlaris doesn't do (photographic materials or products) manufacturing.
Since selling Harrow a few years ago, KodakAlaris no longer makes or manufactures the paper, and never made or manufactured any of those other products. Eastman Kodak also hadn't manufactured many of those products for...
...than 30 years of hard work in the imaging industry, and after many negotiations, Sino Promise Group formally reached an agreement with KodakAlaris in June 2020 to acquire the global business of KodakAlaris's imaging products (Photo Paper, Photochemicals, Display, Software)."
"acquire the...
Until the sale, a large proportion of KodakAlaris' business came not from film but rather from supplying photographic labs with colour photographic paper, and colour photochemicals and lab kiosks and related software.
It is that business that has been sold - not the still film business.
Unless...
...problem for a while, and supply shortages after that.
Unlike some other Kodak black and white photo chemicals, X-tol is still manufactured in Germany - most likely still by Tetenal.
Unlike HC-110 and T-Max developers, there is no "New Formula, same great results!" note on the KodakAlaris...
I do wonder if this has something to do with the inconsistent pricing of Kodak products in different countries. e.g the UK generally has higher Kodak pricing than Germany or the USA.
