    Kodak XTOL trade concern announcment

Sino Promise bought the Kodak chemical and colour paper and photo lab support business from Kodak Alaris - the sale completed in November. That has been made public, although they still haven't confirmed that the black and white chemicals were included (they were). The Kodak Alaris factories in...

    Kodak XTOL trade concern announcment

Hi Matt+wyofilm I see exactly the opposite and do not sure why you are concerned. I think it is GOOD and that they seem to be on top of things. MOST people are on FB and they are spreading news fast. I remember the PR Nightmares of the bad 120Film Wrapper, and how it took what seemed like an...

Perhaps you are right about Sino Promise, but it damn unprofessional. But if what you say is true, then that would suggest Sino Promise has greater dealings with KA than what has been made public.

I think they are very serious. I'm concerned that public relations is now coming from Sino Promise, not the former Kodak Alaris people.

    New Kodak Film in 2021?

I was referring to, in the USA, the 1950's 60's 70's when EKCo.had 2 labs in California, 1 in Chicago, Rochester, I can't remember, but I believe there were 6 total. This was before EKCo spun off the processing in the United States to Qualex or whatever it was called. Canada didn't ruin the...

True though since Kodak and KA goes hand in hand to some extent I can't help but conflate the two. Good news on the camera, I really hope it comes to market. It's not likely to pull me away from my Beaulieu 4008 ZM, but Super 8 is a wonderful format I wish more people were able to work with.

    New Kodak Film in 2021?

The Super 8 Camera and the Super 8 Processing Service are Eastman Kodak and not Kodak Alaris things though. In terms of the camera, the pandemic did quite a bit there, and we actually had the prototype on hands early this year. As far as I understand the pandemic halted the mass production of...

    New Kodak Film in 2021?

I think we got it wrong: I meant that it doesn´t matter for which former Kodak subsidiary a current Alaris employee has worked before the chapter 11. That was about them being comitted to film. I fully agree with your point though, the current distribution is unfortunate as there are vast...

d-76 stock how many rolls before replenish or toss

Its funny that they removed the link to the D-76 PDF, because the links to the tech sheets for HC-110 and Tmax Developer still go to the 2017 versions of those publications despite the "New Formula" announcement on the page where the links are.

Just a warning, Kodak Alaris advised me that that version is out of date, and has been pulled from the website until it can be updated. That link may be a cached version, or maybe it still shows on some of the regional versions of their website. When I access the Kodak Alaris chemical page on...

...densities. It is definitely one of my favorite developers. I would suggest you try the EcoPro version of it at this time, given that Kodak Alaris is repeatedly having issues with the manufacture of their product. When and if K/A figures out how to consistently produce the original Xtol, then...

Yes my feelings as well.We can only hope that SinoPromise realises this issue of consumer confidence and have plans in effect that make the current problem with Xtol( whatever that problem is?) the last chemical problem For anybody based in Europe and the U.K. it would appear that whatever...

    New Kodak Film in 2021?

Yes, of course. The larger business structures are complicated though, and in the end it doesnt really matter if it was Kodak Ltd in England or the subsidiary in Canada or Mexico or wherever. The important thing is that people who do care are still working in both companies and the whole affair...

That business, or at least support for it, is now owned by Sino Promise Group - Kodak Alaris just sold it. Eastman Kodak has had nothing to do with anything other than movie labs since the bankruptcy settlement.

Do you think it´s not worth engaging with? Not meant in any attacking way, I´m just curious. I mean, it´s the only magazine of its kind currently, and it´s a lot of work and comittment publishing a quarterly 100+ page print mag like that, that´s not only filled with portfolios but proper...

I for one was impressed that a relatively large company like Kodak Alaris are prepared to engage with the Silvergrain Classics magazine. They can hardly reveal trade secrets via Zoom webinar but the effort is much appreciated.

That´s the biggest nonsense i´ve heard this year. Not only is this an uniformed rambling but it´s insulting to everyone working for Alaris and committed to film. You know, many of those working for Alaris worked for Eastman before and ust transitioned into the new company in 2013. Andy Church...

I think it is more that Kodak Alaris is the marketer and Eastman Kodak is the manufacturer, and that with any introduction of new product, re-introduction of old product, or change to a product, they work collaboratively. Somewhat like Apple and Foxconn.

...the current, much different environment for storage, shipping and delivery of product. The input on those issues definitely came from Kodak Alaris. Even back in the day, the marketing department of Kodak tended to be where the energy for new product development came from. Kodak Alaris still...

Fair enough. But if 7Eleven wants to launch their version of an Alexa speaker (whatever it is correctly called) they will pay someone do develop it and pay a manufacturer to make it. Still, it is 7Eleven who wanted it and for that reason it will happen. EK probably has the capability to create...

I'm not sure about that. I do know that the people in management that I have had contact with at both Eastman Kodak and Kodak Alaris have deep, sometimes multi-generational roots in the film and photo-chemical industries. It is true that they may have been like my dad who spent over a third of...

Help diagnose a development problem, please

Following up, information posted on Photrio <here> suggests Kodak Alaris has announced some kind of problem with several lots of XTOL, including Cat 105 8338, Date 2109/10/07, which is the lot number I used. Without knowing more about the exact nature of the Xtol problem, it is hard to say if...

In a decade of using various of their chemistry I've never seen a problem. I've had one roll of film with issues. Contrast that with the common experience with Kodak films (backing paper, anyone?) and constant complaints about chemistry (XTOL, D-76, etc). I've got a bag of XTOL to return here...

Perhaps two new films. One a reintroduction of a discontinued film, the other something new. https://kosmofoto.com/2021/01/kodak-alaris-planning-two-film-releases-in-2021/?fbclid=IwAR2_-6An1LosqsvEhMpui7Z3joQykhUBI-Cc6Yj-vJWFmK1xtkDdQaZKQIQ

I believe you are right. A complete disconnect between the products they sell and those that make and use use them. The worst 'middle man' possible. I just hope KA can hold things together well enough to keep selling Kodak color (and b/w) film stock.

I have a stockpile of the beautiful Tetenal made XTOL. Alaris is in, what the kids call a dumpster fire right now. I use the Kodak Flexicolor C41 RA and the Ektacolor RA4 chemistry made in the China plant, zero problems. I don't know but it could be the new owners wanting to make sure all the...

Kodak Alaris finally sold to chinese?

That was essentially my point. Given Eastman Kodak's financial performance of late, such an evolution (or even corporate survival) seems less and less likely every day. Note that these replies do not represent "hopes" or "wishes." They simply attempt to point out reality. Which, as those...
