When you find the 4"x5" drug film of your choice at a good price, buy up all that you can and all the necessary chemicals to save money and to keep the film and chemicals from hoarders.
Just as one stocks up on film, since both film and chemicals will only increase in price, stock up on the chemicals at the same time. Better yet avoid the shipping cost, take a road trip to you photo supply pusher and load up the car.
I use split grade printing so I normally use a test strip for magenta and one for the magenta exposure with a test strip of yellow. When I need to burn or dodge, I rarely need another test strip.
Use the box speed and if necessary adjust for shadows using the Zone System meter. Arbitrarily lowering the film speed from box speed brings out show details uniformly and reduces the high light range. That produces the uniform exposures making every photograph boringly the same.
I have always gotten consistent development with C41 and black & white films from 35mm to 120 to 4"x5" sheet film. That is why I always use the Jobo processor and never went back to using Hewes reels and steel tanks.
Since you are in an area with higher humidity, I recommend not storing cameras or lenses in leather cases or closed containers. I store mine on a bookshelf in my study and move them to a camera bag only when I am going to take the out to use them.
