    Dedicated 35mm Scanner

It is a shame that Epson cripples their scanners with such crummy film holders. I did find the BetterScanning holders with ANR glass to be a worthwhile purchase.

    Dedicated 35mm Scanner

I may be of benefit to order some of the ANR glass from betterscanning. He has holders for medium format and has the glass that will fit the standard V600 holders for 35mm from what the website says.

    V600 and Holders

Email Betterscanning about the t locks. I'm not sure they are still available. I use Epson Scan on my V600 exclusively,. I've never calibrated it. Never heard you can do that. Also, I never tried other scanning software. I do almost all my processing in post after scanning. The only...

    V600 and Holders

...all I've read here and there, this forum included, VueScan is a great piece of software well worth adding. Also, I'm looking into the Betterscanning holders for this scanner. Looking on that website I see the T-locks are optional and apparently still available. I have quite a few VPS 120...

Hasselblad, streaks on photos - something is wrong

Maybe you position your negs in the holder to avoid scanning the rebate area? These factors determine when...

Hasselblad, streaks on photos - something is wrong

I have a V700 and use the Betterscanning holder for 120 and Vuescan. I don't have this issue, even with Hasselblad negs. Am I just lucky?

Thanks for this. I wonder if betterscanning helps with this issue. How do you place your strip of unexposed film. Do you just place the negative slightly on top of the strip? In the shop where I bought the scanner, the guy was very helpful, saying it is scanner related, as it creates shadows. He...

Newbie, first roll developed but odd colours

...was done. It was small scans and I was given around 5mb jpegs with the pics on them. I asked them whether if they were processed or not but I haven't got a reply. Would it be wise for me to invest in a scanner say something like the Epson Vxxx with betterscanning holders and fine tune from there?

    Scanning MF with Epson V600

...to scan sharply, no matter which side of the film is up, or how carefully I place it in the film holder. (I'm using the default film holder that came with the scanner. I know, I know - I should buy the betterscanning film holder) Other suggestions? Can these devices lose their focus calibration?

sorry; no experience with that scanner.I use an Epson 3200 for all formats35-4x5with good results.Keep in mind scanning film is a transitional technology.Using a digital camera will be the most sensible option and eventually the only choice for quality conscience users.:cool2:

    Scanning MF with Epson V600

I checked and got sharper detail with the negative on the glass than when I scanned using the Epson holders. So I ordered the .5mm holder from Betterscanning instead of the 1mm. Also, I believe the T locks are no longer available.

I'm about ready to order Betterscanning. There are .5mm and 1mm holders for the V600. The 1mm is standard. Which do you guys recommend? See Variable Height Epson Film Holder Thickness Choice Also, I have my film processed by a lab. They return the 120 film ten shots cut 3-3-2-2. Is that...

    Scanning MF with Epson V600

...I don't regard the 4990's film holders as "flimsy" -- I've seen worse -- and I just never really saw enough improvement in the betterscanning products over the standard Epson holders to justify their steep cost. I even performed an experiment with my 4990, where I used a series of shims to...

...for around 10 years and just scanned them last week. They were hard to get into the holders, but I still got satisfactory results. Betterscanning may be a good place to start with holders and ANR plate. It was also be far cheaper than buying a 120 scanner from Plustek or Minolta ( I assume...

    Scanning MF with Epson V600

    Scanning MF with Epson V600

Hi, thanks, very helpful comparison. I use vuescan and color correct in photoshop. I was not able to get sharp scans using epson scan, and it's also much slower. I think I'll try wet scanning before I commit to the betterscanning accessories.

...The clipping should go away if you set the white point for the scan manually, unless its really clipped in the negative. The auto setting in Epson Scan always seems to clip. I never use it. I found the Betterscanning holder to be well worth it.

    Scanning MF with Epson V600

do the betterscanning accessories actually provide a significant improvement when scanning 120 or is it not worth it? In my experience, the Epson film holders severely handicap the scanner's performance. I have owned a 2450 and a V700 and in both cases using Better Scanning holders and glass...

Epson V750: optimizing film holder height?

So if I HAVE to go bigger, I can always scan and output a digi-neg. And the proportions are less square than 8x10 and more...
