Okay, here is the sand / skin / reclining nude version of my moonflower ;) http://s25.photobucket.com/albums/c76/keithwms/?action=view&current=moonflower_macro_bw.jpg Quite a versatile subject, actually.

Dilemma: I fell back in love with 35mm

I dunno offhand. Just try it, giving as much white light as you can. If your exposures are still really unreasonable then there will be a way around it. Offhand I don't know what the peak sensitivity of your emulsion will be. 350-400. Probably right on the ragged edge but fine. Show the...

    Why should Kodak fire Perez?

I think we'd all be happier if he somehow accidentally fell into a coating machine and the resulting film distributed worldwide, so that we could all have the experience of developing him, stopping him, fixing him and then bleaching him.

Oh, I have shot reala in roll form up to 612, it's a great thing. That's what I'd base my comparison on, medium format compared to medium format. reala has that neutrality and credibility but yet it pushes the envelope just a bit. Yes, too bad it's not available in sheets. Many films I wish...

LOL well that'd be a start :) No, what certain tobacco companies did was swallow competitors whole, gaining full market share very quickly and then pool production and management etc. The result is much higher profit per unit sold. Imagine if Coke and Pepsi didn't have to spend money working...

There is some natural iridescence, yes. But you can make skin look the same if you wish. I've seen figures that look like pieces of metal. It's not something I aim for but it's doable. And I have another moonflower shot in which the petals evoke sand or skin (so I have been told many times)...

Primarily it's lighting, the first one was done in open shade, deliberately aiming for moodiness. The second was done with shallow tungsten lights, actually quite contrasty shallow light to emphasize surface texture. A little bit of broad light, but mostly side light. The film was also...

That is not quite true in the current context. Kodak is now in chp 11 which means that the liabilities counting against profit are set aside for adjudication. Simply saying "there is no profit" is akin to saying that someone in bankruptcy doesn't have spending money. It's just not true...

Himself, does (there was a url link here which no longer exists) have the glow you seek? And/or (there was a url link here which no longer exists) ? Both were done with traditional-grain Ilford fp/hp films on a large-ish format, developed pretty much normally.

Do not mention the two in the same sentence. They are entirely different. I have seen blown highlights or loss of shadow detail in astia, as one might expect in a slide film dealing with a scene that has too much range to handle, but that's it. Astia has superb colour neutrality. If you...

Well the first thing you do is get in a lotus position and meditate on your most important brands, raise prices on the corresponding products, streamline the existing line and lower production costs as much as possible. And start hunting very aggressively for new consumers, while preparing to...

Emerging details of Kodak's plan for restructuring

I agree, I was merely brainstorming about how to raise funds immediately and come out of chp 11. They need to raise a bil or two, minimum. That is doable if they show how to stem losses and if they land some revenue. What they do next is up to the next CEO.

Dilemma: I fell back in love with 35mm

Bear in mind that some of your enlarger optics may cut out too much UV to get a quick exposure, you'll have to test. Worst case, just equip yourself with a lemp with more UV component and process lens optics. (A lot of glass cuts out at ~350nm, fused quartz allows you to go down much...

By the way, I do have a market where Kodak could play very effectively, in my opinion. And I told them about it, oh, almost a decade ago. Thin film photovoltaics. Too late now though.

Ron could say whether this is possible, but it seems to me that Kodak's current filkm product formulas and key techniques could be sold off very quickly. There is *certainly* profit there for a company that can catch that ball and run with it. Your Ektar and whatnot might be made in India...

Emerging details of Kodak's plan for restructuring

Seems to me that much rests on the success or failure of Kodak's current lawsuits against Apple and HTC (and RIM too, if I remember correctly). If they are able to stake a claim to certain sensor IP then their imaging IP will define some very nice possibilities. It's a slim chance, but...

Wow, whatever Eastland is smoking, I want some!!! But it's true, Kodak's film sector could be profitable. Highly profitable. Aristophanes, what I think you are perhaps missing is that in order for any sector to remain profitable, you first have to invest in it. This is not like selling...

    Kodak Declares Chapter 11 bankruptcy

    Why should Kodak fire Perez?

I just wonder what Kodak's printer biz is worth to the existing companies. I kinda doubt that Epson and the others will have any desire at all to invest in it. Kodak killed their chem/biosciences stuff off some time ago, I guess they have nowhere to go there. What else is there... digital...

    Why should Kodak fire Perez?

Hear, hear! Yeah I guess my question is what do you consider an outsider, in the context of chp 11. I would guess that it'd be legally impossible to keep somebody within under those circumstances. My comments were more about reorg in the context of chp 11. I don't see how creditors could be...

CAN'T INF FOCUS: Hasselblad Distagon 40mm f/4 "C" Lens, Thoughts??

Put your glasses on. Can you see better now? ;) Probably a dumb question but: is there some sort of macro limiter? And is the flange to film distance the same for all the hassy bodies? And is there any sign of a different rear mount, i.e. was it adapted, perchance? Just nutty thoughts....

    Why should Kodak fire Perez?

Well basically I think the chp. 11 trustee is now in charge. To regain confidence in remaining assets, the thing that happens now is that Perez and everybody else in sr. mgmt gets the boot. My guess is that is what a trustee would advise. I don't know the details... any corp lawyers here???

Dilemma: I fell back in love with 35mm

Yep, but I think the better Nikkors are kind of in a special category. They are finding a second (or third?) life on DSLRs and there is really good compatibility among almost all the Nikon bodies. It wouldn't surprise me to see the value stay more or less constant. Where I think I am seeing...

Yeah well just wait 'til you see the bonus they have to give to hire someone competent to come clean the whole thing up form Perez. My own mgmt experience is obviously at a smaller scale but I have seen this issue. Something urgently needs to be fixed and it's high risk and will make your CV...
