Resale?! Camera gear?
I would advise you to hold on to what you've got and shoot the holy crap out of it. Use it heavily and without regard for the next owner. Leave it fully spent, appreciated, and used as if there were no tomorrow. The resale value of my gear will be precisely $0 by...
Astia is still available in all sizes from Japan and at reasonable prices. I recently got some 220 that way.
That's interesting about the CR200. Not sure why they'd bother making an aerial film at this stage though, I'll contact them and see if they'll sell me a bulk roll!
People who buy clothing in an AE or Urban Outfitters are probably going to think of the fisheye lomo as a nifty fashion accessory. I can imagine that market working quite well. Actually, as I mentioned in that other thread, the instant print concept is quite consistent with the social...
I use a metering prism on the RB. But for best versatility, I'd just pick up a handheld meter, There might be a good hotshoe version that'd work for you too.
Not cheap.
I've not heard it was for aerial- interesting. I have a high-altitude filter but it is a slightly warming filter.
My impression is that most use this film and its CN companion for scanning... in which case shooting a color target and then making the necessary adjustments is quite easy. Why...
I don't know about the timelines for production, but if you are very content with portra then I would suggest purchasing substantial quantities and consider bulk rolls too.
At the same time, consider trying the Fuji 160 films.
The really important thing about micron-scale AgX in a print (or film) is that the grains can be oriented very differently, so that you have a numbered of different tones available from a particle with the same structure and surface chemistry. And on top of that, there is of course a...
Oh I wasn't offering any justification, I was just looking at what might be involved. We'd also need the oil price, the silver price, shipping costs, etc. And all of that is less important to the price than the company's own internal projections of where those costs are going.
It's more...
Sure. The thing is, the unknown facts could easily turn this whole thing upside down, and then the arguing participants will find that they've lost friends over.. nothing. My advice to all is to appreciate the associations you have here on apug and frickin' let it be. As long as people are...
The main differences between the trad'l and modern films is the appearance of grain, and how that plays with the micro contrast and the appearance of sharpness of tonal boundaries. You can, as most will agree, get whatever you want out of whatever film you have at hand..but that will require...
Thanks for all the consideration and comment on my images :).
As astutely surmised by Mark and others, for the iridescent moonflower shot, the highlights were placed smackdab in the middle of the curve. There were very small, delicate highlights that I wanted to protect. The resulting neg...
I agree with Roger, we need to remember that these films are still available.
Delta 400 has grain similar to that found in the tmaxes, I believe.
You might also give neopan 400 a try, in xtol.
Unfortunately, neither neopan 400 or delta 400 are available in sheet form.
But if you like...
So Aristophanes, you don't think Fuji would be interested in acquiring the relevant IP and licenses at bargain-basement prices and using it to solidify their own market base? Do you see my point at all?
