In your opinion, what are the best modern 35mm film SLRs ever built?

Alright. It's an organ. An electromechanical tonewheel organ, if you want me to be more precise.

Or to compliment the drummer on how great they're sounding. Bassists are essential to the drummer and viceversa. The more tight they are as a unit, the better the music. I have a friend, bassist, we used to live together and clashed quite a bit at home, but when he picks his bass and i'm at...

In your opinion, what are the best modern 35mm film SLRs ever built?

Your point is that you need something fast and versatile for action shoots like kids, guitarists etc. Well, i understand your point but if that's what you want to shoot, then the F4 isn't a good choice either. You could carry a Canon EOS 5, you will need no motor-drive, even the flash is...

Weight with MB-20 small grip (and batteries) is quoted at 1200g without lens. A Bronica ETRSi, with standard lens, film back, and wlf, weights 1285 grams. I'd carry a medium format camera instead.

Great idea and the theory behind it is completely sound.

In your opinion, what are the best modern 35mm film SLRs ever built?

I also had a F3P briefly. Liked the titanium prism + hot shoe. But sadly it has the same flaws of the F3: an inferior quality viewfinder image (compared to the later F2 cameras), tiny hard to read shutter speed, IMPOSSIBLY tiny "+/-" meter display that is a big insult to common sense, useless...

A NEW (as of 2022) ISO 200 COLOR NEGATIVE FILM FROM ADOX

However if one needs high resolution, one ought to be using a tripod, no matter what the film sensitivity is. I personally think that, just as a very fast film (i.e. iso 1600) opens door to many possibilities, a very slow film (like ISO 12) also opens the door to other possibilities like very...

What to watch out for in a Nikon S series?

How about this postwar Contax IIa with a Jupiter-12? LOL... I'm cheating, mine is a modified body. Stock Contax iiia/iia can't mount the j-12 nor the prewar biogon 35/2.8

What to watch out for in a Nikon S series?

However, and I say this as a diehard Canonista, it should be recognized that the Nikon S/S2/S3/SP are internally better built than the Canon 7 series. The earlier canons (like the VT) are better inside.

Pen EE lens on a Pen F?

You'll find that the Pen D is more compact, lighter, and quieter than your Pen F. And has a brighter viewfinder. And a light meter. You know what to do.

What to watch out for in a Nikon S series?

I don't like Fed or Zorkis, really. And leicas are way overpriced. As for the LTM cameras, i think most have cloth shutters except for maybe the latest Voigtlander made-in-japan cameras. As for the focus compatiblity issues, my experience (as a camera tech) is that if you use russian lenses...

What to watch out for in a Nikon S series?

This week i have been working on a 1960 Kiev rangefinder and it's the machine of the devil. I was less than impressed with the materials quality. Yesterday i simply called it off -- the camera goes straight to the parts bin. Note that i'm a Contax IIa/IIIa user and i'm happy with these...

A NEW (as of 2022) ISO 200 COLOR NEGATIVE FILM FROM ADOX

Key points i extract, that I think are very relevant: - Partly manufactured in-house - Specifically designed for lower production costs: Sounds logical to me, if they have less layers, then it requires less coating passes = less time and expenses to coat a master rolll - It will enable you to...

    Quality comparable to Hasselblad Flextight?

Yes you can use a fluid mount (and adjust its height), however the improvement for the V850 isn't too big compared to correctly adjusted film holder height. This doesn't surprise me at all, coming from the enlarging generation i find fluid mounting (and glass holders) to be a bit overrated, and...

    Quality comparable to Hasselblad Flextight?

There are plenty of comparisons on the internet out there, this is old news, nothing new here. Yeah you can fluid mount on your flatbed etc etc. This won't compensate for its mediocre optics. V850 isn't a good deal better than the lower models, when compared to other means of scanning like...

    Quality comparable to Hasselblad Flextight?

However there IS a difference. The V600 will add artifacts like smearing of high-contrast edges and some chromatic aberration too. The former can be compensated for by increased sharpening: this will also increase the presence of noise, dirt, etc. Garbage in --> Garbage out. These artifacts...
