I want one of those little monkeys you used to be able to mail order from the back of comic books. I'm going to teach it to press a shutter release, then I'm going to make a fortune selling the the world's only photographs by a monkey. I mean a monkey other than me. From there I plan on...
Rodinal with 3200 can produce smooth, nearly grainless negatives under the proper conditions. Check out the recent thread on high speed films.
(there was a url link here which no longer exists)
$30 is a fantastic price. I'm sure it would be higher today, but even still it might be worth it just to have it be someone else's problem. I use a cement along the inside of the seams to improve the strength and light-fastness, so I let them dry overnight before reassembling. I've got it down...
I've been making them out of 4" x XXX" hobby board from the hardware store. I just saw off about 1/4" or so around the inside edges on one side and drill a hole in the middle. I faced one with brass, the rest are all wood.
Sorry for reviving an old thread but I've been repairing bag magazines like crazy lately. Pigskin leather on the outside and old t-shirt material inside (because that's what I had laying around). They work great so far. Disassemble the old bag and cut it along the two seams, then lay that flat...
There's also KEH.com. Quality is almost always well above the listed rating. I've bought plenty of Bargain items that would be listed as Like New with anyone else.
Rodinal can get nice and chunky. They're usually big enough that they fall to the bottom pretty quickly even if agitated. Some people strain it, but I like the swirling sound it makes, it's comforting.
Got this from a US rep:
We will not be making NEO 400 4x5. That’s an easy one – we do not do special requests for film like this in the USA. You would have to source it from some international source and see if it even exists as an export item….there are several large format clubs who know...
HP5+ is nice, I shoot a lot of it in 4x5. If it were available I'd shoot Neopan instead, but HP5+ is up there with the new Tri-X for me. Best way to tell is to buy a box and try it, of course.
Almost all of my photos are diffused at the printing stage. Of course the effect of diffusion at printing as opposed to taking is different. Make sure it fits the subject.
Certainly. I have it printed at 11x14" on my wall. If you (or anyone else) is in the Seattle-area you can stop by and let me regale you with my tall tales as I show you photos.
Let me know if you want it bigger.
(I posted this on Graflex.org as well, if I get a solution on one I'll update the other)
I have recently taken possession of a Series D in which the left-side focusing gear is off to the side of the rail towards the body such that when the focusing knob is turned only the right-side engages...
I'm in. I'm guessing the response you got was not what you had hoped for.
No disrespect meant to Ilford, I quite like HP5+, I just like Neopan 400 much more!
What do you recommend for development times? How critical is that time? In other words do you find that you need to experiment a lot with different films or is it all pretty consistent?
