    need tips on preserving cameras

Dang, those are some old dogs! Or was that in dog-years? Most of my cameras are wood or leather covered, I normally put on an extra thick layer of the appropriate wood or leather treatment if I'm going to be storing them for any amount of time. I treat my cameras the same way I treat my...

Sure, it'll work. You could also dilute less for shorter dev times or more for longer times.

    which frame for a gallery

I use simple thin black metal frames with white mats. To me the frame and mat should serve to separate the photo from the wall and nothing more. They should be as invisible as the Post-It note reminders I leave myself all over the place.

4x5 macro work and closeup lenses

I think this is one of the reasons why macro works so well with large format. Camera movements allow you to adjust the plane of focus in order to maximize the focus on the subject of interest. A good monorail will allow virtually unlimited bellows draw along with movements that would make a...

    Welcome to Graflex Land.

I've been known to put a lot of film through my Graphic, but lately I have been using my RBs more and more. I'm not sure if that makes me a heathen or just even more of a luddite than normal. At least they have Graflex in the name, right?

    Looking for a fast lens

I'm not opposed to using Delta 3200, I've used enough of it to get a good idea of what it can do. I just don't really think it has that much personality. Right now I'm stand developing Neopan 400 in Rodinal for 90min with no agitation after the first bit.

Good macro bellows instructions on the net?

Depending on what she wants to do the principles will most likely be the same. Meaning that if it's an auto-unit anything auto- will stay auto- whether digital or film and if it's not then it's not. With the exception of reciprocity I can't think of anything off the top of my head that would be...

    Shooting 220 through a kiev 60

I don't know about the rest of the folks on here but I for one cannot stand for any answer that so smacks of logic and reason. Give me rash and insensible, preferably with a swaggering dose of danger, maybe some power tools and a hot glue gun. It may end in total abject failure but at least I'll...

    Shooting 220 through a kiev 60

On my Kiev 60 after the 12th frame the advance lever works freely (doesn't require shutter release) and uses shorter strokes. Nothing wrong with trying it out, but this has been a common subject over the years and the answer has generally been "Buy a 6c or some other camera."

Holy cow! Man, that guy cracks me up. He's always got things listed for two or three times what others sell them for. It looks nice, but unfortunately I just got back from a tobacconist that's closing shop and I already have one kidney's worth of my body allotted to the most amazing...

    Looking for a fast lens

I imagine any lens made for 6x4.5 would have to cover 6x6, so that's not a bad idea. It would certainly fit in with the rest of my Frankencameras!

    Looking for a fast lens

Yes, I have a f/1.4 on small format, it's very nice! I'm just hoping to find something similar in a larger format. Even large format would be nice, I'm running at f/2.9 on that as well. I read something on lfphoto.info about a pretty fast f/1.x something from Surplus Shed. I might have to...

    Looking for a fast lens

I'm looking for low-light performance, the only aesthetic being "it's not as dark." I don't really have anything against the 6x4.5 format, it just never really felt right to me. I print my 6x6 negatives as squares, I like the look. And of course the larger rectangular formats print nicely as...

    Looking for a fast lens

The f/1.9 might be nice, I forgot about the 645 - I try to stay with 6x6 or larger but of course I'm going to have to compromise someplace in the equation. Looking at my meter it seems that f/2.4 would be about half a stop faster than f/2.8. Would you say that's the case in the real world?

    Good b&w portrait film?

Efke 25 all the way. Beautiful. Of course it really depends on what look you're after! Do you want soft and sumptuous or hard and gritty? What is the personality of the couple in question? It's really hard to make a recommendation on something as broad as B&W film without knowing the specifics.

    Looking for a fast lens

I'm looking for a fast MF lens. Right now I'm chugging along at f/2.8 but I'm really drooling over some of those Leica Noctilux f/1.0 lenses. Is there anything comparable for MF? Ideally it would be with a rangefinder-style camera as opposed to a box-system (Hasselblad, RB/RZ, etc). I'd buy the...

But then that will make them even better, they will transcend "best" and become legendary. Show me an excellent photograph and I will nod politely and try not...
