As you already remarked, it is a prestige project for Gitzo. They simply can afford to produce such devices in small quantity.
Guess why!
As with every higher end product, the price grows faster than the actual gain in terms of characteristic qualities (lightweightness, portabilty...
Adding a filter makes any lens more prone to stray light. Retracted front elements of a lens often provide a good basic protection against stray light - adding a filter can disable this advantage!
This is no idea of mine, it is just a transfer of existing techniques. For example, there are little colour scanners with voice output helping blind people to find out the colour of clothes in their wardrobe ect.
There are even rifle scopes for blind people out there. They just use some...
One roll costs me about 4 to 6 Euros. Developing costs me about 5 to 6 Euro per roll, Scanning costs 15 Euro, 13cm x 13cm prints (B&W) are about 3,10 Euro per print.
Troubles like the use of wrong process or scanning in B&W instead of colour included.
That means, I will start buying darkroom...
I would at least try to continue photographing, but only B&W. I would first manage to build devices helping to get an impression of what is going on in a scene. An easy one would be a "spotmeter". It would transfer luminance levels into more or less high tones. Large areas of fine-detailed...
Nice photo, and a very beautiful instrument to my taste. I love the evil look of the f holes >:]
What is the tuning of the strings?
I have a relatively small viola, so while playing I often think that an additional e string would really sound and work nice.
The trick is, as posted above, that the EV is equatable by several terms. Thus, we can use the whole thing to compress a lot of information in a single number.
The light meter puts out an EV, taking into account film speed and the amount of available light. When transferred to a camera capable...
I have done a similar thing. Velvia50 & Rolleiflex.
I am not sure about this film yet. The pictures sure look pleasing in most cases, but its a bit too much saturation. Perhaps its THE film for strong sunlight around midday?
Try to get a second hand stereo microscope like this: http://seoenterprises.com/shop/image.php?productid=16208
and a flat light table. Place the table under the microscope and put your slide on it. I recommend the use of a light table over the use of a microscope that is already prepared for...
What a great summary, Ken
Digitals most serious problem for me is the lack of interchangeable sensors. As long as there isnt some severe competition on things like that I will never jump back to digital for serious photography.
PS I did sell my digital cam just to get rid of it and I will...
Yep, I can still remember advertisements in some magazines like GEO.
Sometimes they had normal product pictures, but the most impressive stuff always had to do with a camera in really bad but still functional shape.
I have a manual focus Tamron 28-200mm with a Nikon adaptor, but I dont like it that much. It is my only zoom lens, so I cannot do a fair comparsion. The results have always been a bit too low in terms of contrast. It was my "all in one" solution for freeclimbing - it is not that heavy.
Right; different parallax error, useless DOF tables due to different focal lengths and format, my "azimuth" problem... the more I am thinking of it, the more a "babynar" makes sence.
Hello, my name is Jonas, I am 25 years old and I live in Germany.
Rumor has it that as a baby my very first favorite toy was the leg of an tripod. No tripod - no sleep!
So its not surprising that photography and the tools used for it soon became a serious hobby of mine.
My father is a...
I came across your page some weeks ago. Nice to know that you are posting here.
Its not quite an error, but could it be that the normal Rolleinar sets will not fit exactly in terms of the correct "azimuth" of the Keil lens?
On each of my sets the red dot comes to stop about 1/8 turn beyond...
