So Adox does analysis of old vs. new XTOL, they find a difference, it's shown in the video of a blogger who may or may not be independent, and Adox decide to make a developer to approach the test results they got from the old XTOL. What's the hubbub about? Nothing stands in the way of...
You know me, I don't like the recent KodakAlaris.
This time I fell off my chair when I watched this video.
I don't like Adox move when it relies on bloggers to do such videos and I don't like them this time about KodakAlaris Xtol without carring evidences also.
Bad move.
It is indeed sad to see what happened to Kodak brand. I just bought Kodak's Data Book for Applied Photography from the 1970's in 5 volumes. Going through these pages makes one wanna cry. It's not about nostalgia, but rather the effort into making that kind of data available to the marketplace.
I was hoping that the Eastman Kodak and KodakAlaris film businesses would be taken private similar to Ilford.
Right now Ilford is being run like a real company. Bringing out new products, a very enhanced presence on the web. Good job!
...directly involved in still photography product marketing. They were looking to save their motion picture film business.
At the same time, KodakAlaris was most focused on the largest part of their business - the manufacture of paper for colour photofinishers.
The still film world was in...
I followed it well. (https://www.photrio.com/forum/threads/kodak-raising-prices-in-2021.179226/page-2#post-2339669)
I don't agree at all about the behaviour Kodak sports, but you should understand the situation. Alaris is the exclussive distributor of Eastman Kodak products, and Alaris is...
...of parts, some of which became successful on their own (e.g. Eastman Chemical) after making some hard decisions.
People complain about KodakAlaris, but at least they have managed so far to keep the film and paper and chemical business under one roof. Post bankruptcy Eastman Kodak would...
...Double-X is finer than T-Max 400, however. In my experience, TMY has comparable grain to old Plus-X.
To get Double-X in Kodak boxes, KodakAlaris would have to be convinced there was enough market to contract with Eastman Kodak to get the film perfed for still cameras (I know, we get away...
Only problem is that Ilford Imaging went under, Agfa cancelled these films and thus only Fuji and KodakAlaris remain, and in addition these are not availabe in 35mm etc.
...matter, the entire *KODAK* brand is no longer what it was-- so perhaps that should be shut down too (and there's support for closing KodakAlaris, because apparently they're evil bastards).
I have no idea why HC-110 was reformulated. I'm not enough of a chemist to understand the differences...
KodakAlaris refers to non photo-active impurities in Dektol that its manufacturer is working to remove.
As I understand it, the problems with D-76 and X-Tol are related to the interim change of the packaging. I'm not sure if there have been any problems with the subsequent, new, much larger...
...changes arise as a result of upheaval in the manufacturing world.
Unexpected problems arise after product gets into customers' hands.
KodakAlaris publicly acknowledges problem, works to correct it for new production and takes steps to replace product for customers.
Much better than going out...
Another one complaining, this time of Dektol and Kodak T-Max 400 35mm
https://kruegerphoto.com/blog/2020/07/02/whats-up-with-kodak-alaris-photo-products/
...all sorts of valuable information in them. Most can be found on their websites.
Ilford's website is here: https://www.ilfordphoto.com/
KodakAlaris' website is here: https://imaging.kodakalaris.com/photographers-photo-printing/resources/techenvironment
There are also links to data sheets in...
Fixer is one chemical that I prefer to buy off a shelf, so local availability can be a determining factor.
You could reach out to KodakAlaris: ProPaperChem@kodakalaris.com
...clear from the fix and then clear up fine in the wash. Not sure what the deal was. I got no responses to speak of to my post and KodakAlaris didn't respond either.
@grain elevator: Visible underfixing presents as an opaque layer or semi-opaque whitish fog. Note that film can be...
Frankly I was only trying to help get the OP to the likely cause and the first stage is usually to contact the seller, assuming of course it was a shop or retailer. Essentially under UK law the seller is primarily responsible. At that point of contact I'd want to ask where the fixer was obtained...
Why would it matter (to the OP) if Tetenal is the manufacturer?
It is most likely that Tetenal makes all of the Ilford liquid chemicals, and most of the Kodak liquid chemicals, and probably lots of other brand's photo chemicals.
KodakAlaris are the people to contact.
...wasn't sure if you are agreeing with me, attacking me or doing neither. :D I agree with your sentiments whether the company is Kodak or KodakAlaris. Primarily I was simply pointing out that grat as it happens because crap on Kodak was his phrase not mine that two criticisms, one of which was...
I understand what you are saying Dave, and don't disagree that KodakAlaris has the responsibility to deal with these problems.
I think the reaction isn't to the complaints about problems, but rather about some people who seem to equate the problems with some sort of abandonment and treachery -...
With regard to the general topic of "crapping on Kodak"...
I don't really understand the pushback against the complaints about KodakAlaris chemicals. It seems to me to have nothing to do with brand loyalty. I mean, didn't Kodak (the US corporation) sell off that part of its product line to...
...you have done your lesson with your finger pointing right at me, could you please tell us what do you think about the customer level Kodak has in Europe?
If you can, of course...
Because this is the topic I was talking about in this thread.
P.S: btw, do you work for KodakAlaris or Kodak...
KodakAlaris doesn't sell T-Max fixer on this side of the Atlantic. With respect to liquid fixers, there is reference in some materials to Polymax T fixer, and more regular access to Kodafix liquid fixer and Kodak Rapid Fixer. Polymax T fixer and Kodafix liquid fixer have hardener included...
Yes KodakAlaris still makes good film, though the quality standard is very far from the Kodak of yore, I found. I personally stopped using TMAX 400 in medium format altogether when I started getting bad batches whereby the characters printed on the backing paper kept appearing on the negative...
...any price difference between the two ($1 on Freestyle), and
LegacyPro likely doesn't have the resources that even post-reorganization KodakAlaris does to back up their products,
I'm inclined to stick with the Kodak product. If I were going to stop, I'd probably switch to Mytol and try to...
