...to happen with respect to black and white chemicals.
Apparently, prior to purchasing the section, Sino Promise Holdings distributed more KodakAlaris supplied Kodak branded photo products (including film, chemicals and colour paper) than any other distributor in the world. The fact that Adox...
Sorry, but it isn't clear what you were informed of, and how it came out.
Were you told that Kodak black and white photo-chemicals were going to disappear - because that is how I read what you posted?
We were informed that this would happen about six month ago but things came out differently. It might have been a very akward formulation on the side of someone but all Kodak distributors here in Europe understood it the same way and we were asked from all over Europe if we could step in...
...is still available as a self replenishing developer, if you are willing to invest in two packages that each make 25 litres of replenisher or working solution.
KodakAlaris was considering making available again some smaller quantity, before the sale of the black and white photo-chemical business.
Or it might just be a casualty of translation - really meaning instead that the KodakAlaris will no longer be the source for Kodak photo-chemicals.
I've had great communications with Adox - both within the forums, and by "Conversation", but it is clear that English isn't their first language...
I suspect that it refers to the situation around the various legacy BW chemistry products manufactured in Germany - and whether Sino would continue to have them made, especially given the various technical glitches that seemed to have plagued Dektol/ Xtol recently. I have heard that the newest...
This is news to us. Are you referring to KodakAlaris selling the Kodak photo chemical business, or are you meaning to say that the new owner, Sino Promise Holdings, won't be offering Kodak photo chemicals in the future.
Sandra, as we have said here or in another thread we do not have full data on this yet. The XT-3 development programm runs since about 6 months (since we were informed by Alaris that all Kodak Chemicals would be stopped). What we see in comparison and ageing tests is that our product with the...
All the bags going forward will be Sino Promise bags, because it is there business now.
Looks like little change though in the fact that the employees who were former Kodak employees, and then became KodakAlaris employees are now Sino Promise employees.
...they fed, clothed, educated and sheltered me for all my formative years.
The problem with wrapper offset taxed Eastman Kodak and KodakAlaris' resources. PE posted a few times about what the insiders were willing to share with him. If they could have solved the problem that you are having...
...who worked for Kodak Canada in the long ago past. I also currently have some contact with people who work either for Eastman Kodak, KodakAlaris or Sino Promise.
I have worked for companies that dealt with a lot of Kodak product, and I have used a lot of that product for decades. Many years...
They also ship from Colorado. I think they have a shipping center/warehouse there. A bunch of film I got from one of my suppliers had stickers on the box that showed that they got it originally from an address in CO. I've also seen boxes from the shipping department in Rochester.
I'm not worried about Kodak developers because there are lots of alternatives. What terrifies me is the supply of film and paper. No particular problems at the moment, but what's in store for us?
KodakAlaris only sells to distributors. And as far as I know, they don't warehouse product - the distributors get it from Rochester.
It is the distributors and the retailers that are determining the final price.
Kodak pricing for film in the UK is very strange, they used to be competitive with ILFORD but the 'Kodak premium' has risen ever further, more than can be explained by currency fluctuations or sales tax / VAT differences. I suspect one reason is the convoluted distribution of Kodak products and...
It might be because that is what KA has decided the market will bear and until a lot of customers do the "shop around" it will continue this way
Capitalism tends to be "red in tooth and claw" in this way and in the words of the group "10cc" in the "Wall Street Shuffle" "Dow Jones ain't got...
Just keep in mind that with all the mistakes that have happened with the black and white chemistry. That The Eastman Kodak company still is the manufacturer of all Kodak branded films sold anywhere in the world. It all comes from Rochester New York.
It must be miserable for people, who most...
Hi Wayne, It seems absurd that KodakAlaris appear to have fixed the price of their products at an all time high in the UK. I have learned to shop around for Ilford stuff too and get the best price, as some vendors discount to a greater extent. Ilford also deal direct, and depending on seasonal...
Yes, that’s my understanding... Eastman Kodak evidently still makes the film. I could certainly be wrong... and in any event, I still need (desire) other films... but at least it’s a start.
I'm new to priting, so maybe I just don't know what to expect. My cool, glossy papers are all bright white compared to my warm pearl paper. I interpreted that to be a difference in the paper alone, but maybe not. I'm using all Ilford MG RC.
Hi! I bought two packages of Dektol around 5 months ago, but I still had some of the old "good" chemistry to finish before I run into this problem last week.
As the notice from Kodak-Alaris says that it does not have an impact on the end result, I put up with the disgusting colour and used it.
I...
FWIW, my contact information for the people in KodakAlaris' chemical department is now no longer functional.
I think they have been totally disrupted by the sale of that part of the business.
I'm interested to see what comes out with respect to the incredibly tiny portion of their business that...
Oh yeah, I've been using China made KodakAlaris Flexicolor C-41 chemistry for years, same with the RA-4 color paper chemistry. These plants have been in operation for a long time, I suspect that some sites were Eastman Kodak plants that survived the digital mess.
The black and white chemistry...
...(no different than US bailouts of private pension plans) no one wanted things to turn out this way. I wouldn't be surprised to see KodakAlaris maintain the still film business. Ektachrome seems to be successful.
What I've come to realize is Sino Promise and Fujifilm don't give two s*#ts...
