What manufacturers were those? The ones making the tapes, I mean. I only know of a couple manufacturers right now, which would be Recording The Masters, National Audio, and I believe ATR Magnetics. Were those the three?
Then what are you doing here?
No point comparing vinyl record sales in a time when there was little real competition with now. Back in the day, few people had a cassette deck good enough to rival records and even fewer had a reel to reel deck which can sound even better. Today vinyl competes...
It's more than wishful thinking, backed up by the data Henning has given us here in these very pages year on year. Backed up by what Ilford and Kodak repeatedly say...if you listen. Backed up by what the owners and staff in camera shops say.
We aren't yet at the happy stage of the vinyl record...
I wonder what the difference is between the Eastman price FOB Rochester Vs the Harman price FOB Mobberly? I doubt we'll ever know accurately though.
I expect that any material cost increases, such as acetate base will be affecting both players reasonably equally.
Kerrisdale ordered it for me several months ago. No sign of it. But that's okay. I have about 10 rolls in the freezer...and I'll keep using Ilford films. For the price of TMY-2, I can buy two rolls of HP5 😀
Kerrisdale will order that film for you. They won't stock it, because it is hard to sell.
I can guarantee that KodakAlaris pays Eastman Kodak the same amount for the film, no matter where it is going. But the amount that KodakAlaris charges to then sell that film to the different...
I was not aware Kodak had now a consumer-shop for still-analog products!
In the past such was hot-linked to the KodakAlaris site instead!
I was so sure of this that today I did not even check, but only at the KodakAlaris site (though their logo is different).
It is advertising, don't be fooled.

Thank You!! Then I indeed belong to the dumb club...
But I still assume it is just advertizing. And otherwise it might be an infringement of Kodak's contract with KodakAlaris (a contract though none of us knows...)
Well, I just see Kodak even got it in their shop.
Yes, it is just a licensing thing that is always a "side gig" in this new "gig" economy. It is found on the retropro website and they say they are making it, not KODA|<
Argus made a digital camera a few years ago, it wasn't really Argus and Honeywell makes LED lights,. well, not really...
You will find it on Eastman Kodak's website.: https://www.kodak.com/en/consumer/product/cameras/film/h35-film-camera
Here is a screen grab:
The styling reminds me of my old Retina S1. Another screen grab:
Well, then I am in de dumb-club too....
Let me explain:
Kodak licence to other entities their name to be put on those entities' products, if they apply for it.
This basically has nothing to do with KodakAlaris, Sino Promise or such, but is a side-business of Kodak themselves.
Well, Maco, Astrum, Silberra already came up with maskless aerial films from Agfa and Kodak in consumer conversions.
None of them asked for a 125,000 prepay. (And legally it is not even a prepay but a contribution with unknown outcome.)
That Kodak not necessarily is eager to indirectly...
'Kodak' has a tragically complex corporate structure attached to it which has been described in detail elsewhere on photrio (Alaris, Eastman, SinoPromise). Your hot take illustrates a naïve and uninformed view of the situation, especially with the comparison to Polaroid, but hey this is the...
It isn't KodakAlaris any more, although they may refer you along.
It is the "Kodak Professional Imaging Solutions" division of Sino Promise Holdings - last year they bought the Kodak photochemical and colour photographic paper businesses from KodakAlaris.
And they are really struggling with...
I purchased the bottles with an expiration of 2023. If I'm reading the batch number correctly, I'd say 2021/05/1413626 means is was made in May of 2021. I've tried two of the bottles with the same results. Puzzling to be sure. I'll update if KodakAlaris gets back to me.
The problem with Fuji is that being Japanese, they are rarely as open as most Western companies about what it is they are doing. It's not bad or wrong, it's just the Japanese way. We Westerners don't understand that and start imagining scenarios based on things like sightings of the new film in...
Well, then Andrew/Andy church is wrong, then:
Companies that make color still film:
- Kodak
- Fuji (Provia, Velvia, etc, and the fuji-made C41 film that is still sold in europe and japan)
- Adox (Color Mission 200 and its custom films for lomography)
- and probably, very, soon, Orwo.
The conversation was specifically about C41 still film in 35mm and 120. With Andy Church from Kodak-Alaris. He wasn't exactly confident that film prices will ever drop, but said that the only way they could is if there is a sustained increase in sales.
Regarding bulk rolls...Kodak folk have...
Where did Kodak announce that they have stopped Color Plus production? Do you have a link?
BTW it hasn't been made in china for several years, production of Color Plus was moved back to Rochester, NY years ago.
To attempt an answer to the original question, asking to define "affordable" is...
Eastman Kodak is supplying the entire cinema film market, at least for color. Think about that. Even though most films today are shot and distributed digitally, there are still plenty of folks using film. Alaris has still films etc, relying completely on Eastman Kodak for product.
So many...
The issue is when I buy from B&H, I know they take care to protect the film. If you buy from Amazon, you have absolutely no idea how they stored the film, the temperature, etc or the expiry dates. Do you think their stock clerks making minimum wage care? Does Amazon management care? Does the...
FWIW, the new Kodak Gold 120 is distributed through KodakAlaris' "Professional" distribution customers, not their "Consumer" distribution customers.
The handling and temperature recommendations can be found here: https://imaging.kodakalaris.com/sites/default/files/wysiwyg/pro/CIS_E30.pdf
Well considering this fact, that building 38 coats all the Eastman Kodak cine and still film in the world. The disruptions due to the Covid pandemic. Everyone in the chain is maxed out.
Where does Eastman Kodak confection 35mm film into cassettes?
...haven't produced/manufactured/confectioned any film in China for quite some time. They have one production facility in the USA, and KodakAlaris buys and distributes all the Kodak branded film in the world from the USA facility.
Whether or not ColorPlus was aimed at the market in China and...
