Im looking for a revolving darkroom door. Anyone got one standing around in the EU, that can be bought? No one is manufacturing them anymore.

Too bad you didn't make this request this time last year. As soon as I retired, the school scrapped the darkroom. You could have had the door for a song... The dirty bastards kept it all hush hush until after I left.

May I ask why you want a revolving darkroom door instead of a basic light trap door?

You have no idea how many times Ive heard that building my darkroom. For (add any number between 1-20) years ago I could have given you (Add any imaginable cool machine) for free...

It helps when being multiple people using the same space. And there is no accidental light spills from someone not closing both doors.

I would love one! My parents would kill me if I put one in though! Lol

And now for an unwelcome suggestion- have you considered a light maze with no door at all?

Actually, they are still being manufactured:

I didn't look specifically for EU companies or distributors, but it's a start.

At 4000 GBP for a used revolving door it's a bargain.... or not.

Ive tried contacting Richards without success. I wonder how many of these companies that still are manufacturing new ones. According to the webpage they are made in Denmark by The "Refrema" Rotary Door comapany. But they don't exist anymore.. Lot of old darkrooms stuff is still online, but the company is either gone, or stoped making it..

It's basely what im doing, but I add two doors, or curtains. Both works. It takes however a bit of space, and revolving door is a lot more fun

Basic darkroom light trap, with no moving parts needed: -

This coincides with the collapse of Western Civilization. Probably ran over the sink with a skid loader to prevent it's reuse. Oh the humanity!!! (Humanities?)

A curtain made of good black out material and the regular door with weighted gaskets made of the same material should serve well.

I have this setup on my small darkroom, with the curtain on the entrance side of the door way, with Velcro holding the fixed size to the frame and a weighted darkout tube holding the bottom edge across the openin*.

Revolving doors are great if you’ve the room to install them, though I don’t care I,!for them because of the silence factor will allow someone to walk in without alerting you they are coming in, I’ve been ‘spooked’ several times while working in a darkroom so equipped.

Lab supply houses should have revolving doors, IMO, and maybe, paint supply stores.

I am fairly confident that the OP said earlier in the thread that he does not have room to install a light maze…

I’m also fairly confident that they said that the reason they want to revolving door is because they want the ability to have multiple people working and going in and out.

I think it’s not exactly helpful for them if people keep suggesting things that they’ve probably considered and ruled out for various reasons.

With taxes and freight they are quite expensive... I would say 1000 eur is a max for me..

You’re better off putting up overlapping black-out drapes behind an existing door. Make sure they fall to the floor and then some. An inexpensive solution, I’ve been using it for years now.

He did not say he had ruled it out until after it was suggested.

Our Darkroom Group darkroom would really benefit from a revolving door instead of the current setup.
Of course, we are all essentially kids at heart .

There are 2 on the SF Bay Area Craigslist...
One for $120, one for $50.
Only 1/2 way around the globe. 🥺

Yes, they would have been nice. But i cant even imagine the shipping costs.

A maze is a good solution. And two doors in a row also works, or curtains. But We already have a large dual door for bringing machines and materials. This would be a space optimized solution for personal entrance only while the room is in use.

90cm is a lot less floor surface then a maze..
