I have a 50/75 LTM adapter and I held it up to the flange, it's pretty hard to see a difference. The one on the 50/2 may be very slightly longer but no more than 1mm. The 50/75 adapter brings up the correct 50mm lines. KEH said I can either return it for a refund or keep it, I asked them to send me a new flange but I'll take that as a decline.

Kind of tempted to use the dremel here. Any advice?

From what I know about the M system frame lines, the specific tab/flange for the 90mm/28mm ones are indeed longer than 50mm (with no lens attached, the viewfinder defaults to 135mm/35mm, and 50/75 is in the middle section of the lever's travel) - you can probably verify by pressing down on the little metal lever behind the lens mount.

I'd personally just refund, but if you do end up taking the dremel route, of course take off material in absolutely tiny increments and check frequently, lest you oveshoot. Might be safer just to use a very fine round file, or perhaps some fine sandpaper and a dowel, just to really take your time with it. Last thing you would want is to overshoot.

Sounds like someone swapped the mount. You could Dremel it but be careful otherwise you will be bringing up the 35mm framelines. You would also have a lens that has been Dremeled if you ever go to sell it. The 50 isn't hard to find. I'd just return it. If you do want to file it, Use a hand file.

Well damn. Ok instead of MacGuyver'ing my way out of this I requested a return. Maybe I'll zag and try something exotic like the 50/1 from CV...or the 50/2 APO.

The V50 f/2 APO is a good lens, supposedly just as good as the Leica 50 APO. To be honest there are so many good 50s these days it is almost impossible to choose just one. Even the Chinese lenses from Light Lens Lab, 7Artisans, etc are nice. LLL makes probably the most interesting lenses if you want something not clinical. If you don't need the speed of the fast lenses it is better to avoid them. They can get tiring if you carry the camera all day.

I was also quite a big fan of the current 50/1.5 II Nokton. It's very sharp, plus has some character, and is tiny. I feel like it doesn't get it's due appreciation.
