Yes I remember the pink/reddish color of TMY.
I have subtracted the base , fixed a piece of the film without developing.
As good as no density (minimal light bluish ).
After washing 20 ninutes this color is reduced to "nothing"....
Means this that :
I need to look elsewhere for the reason...
Hi,
Thanks for your post!
You're showing the start and end of the roll of film.
If I understand correctly, you're using regular tape to attach these pieces together.
What does the middle section look like?
Is it also made up of pieces?
Regarding the taped sections, I'm curious whether...
Hi Bill,
First, I need to clarify that the film I'm "struggling" with is NOT the one I described with test photos here: https://www.photrio.com/forum/threads/bulk-rolling-120-220-film.217810/post-2996089
It's the 400 ASA version on a thinner base that's giving me trouble.
My experience is...
I don't think I belong to the group you're referring to.
In my roughly 45-year career developing black and white films (as a hobby photographer, of course, since the late 1970s), I've developed all kinds of films myself, with all the variations that are natural over such a long period. It has...
Wow, I'm truly impressed by everything you do to maintain standards and ensure quality.
Since the batch was released to the market after testing positive, as the manufacturer assured me, the fogging is most likely caused by the customer, specifically me. None of the other films from the same...
Unfortunately, I have no idea where the fogging is coming from.
The producer assured me he did everything in his power to prevent fogging.
The batch test came back positive.
Besides the higher ASA rating (400), the only other thing I noticed was the extreme thinness of the film.
According to...
Hello!
The list of factors that can cause or promote fogging in black and white film is very, very long.
Is there perhaps another connection between the thickness/thinness of the film base, or the material itself, and fogging?
So far, I haven't been able to find anything about it, neither in...
Photographic material from Ukraine Astrum Svema
In summary, I have been in e-mail contact with the company Astrum since the end of December.
The 25% owner of the newly re-established company Astrum, which also sells films and photographic materials under the name Svema, calls himself Alexey...
Hallo !
My experiences with RA-4 printing are very very good. Easy to handle. I use now a drum. Startet with a 4x5"development tank of Zebra (Slovenia) and later with a 8x10 inch silver-tank (from the same firm) prepaired for RA-4 development.
I learnd very much from the 3 parts Youtube of...
Hallo and thank You for your instructions/tutorial and video!
I tried to find a firm - you named it at 0:56 in the video, but I could not understand the name - it was in Colorado - which sells film sliders.
Hope to get an answer soon.Thanx! Some meters of film are waiting 😂!
Yes, it's been a while. It took some time, of course, with the constant turmoil of war nearby.
I received from Svema/Astrum in Ukraine : black and white film in 120 and 135 formats bulk, plus 4x5" sheet film and photographic paper, and I'll test them as soon as possible. All the products come...
I treated my watercolor paper with a 3% citric acid solution for about an hour. The pH value rose from 2.78 to 3.50. The paper only fizzed very slightly. So my question is, what percentage citric acid solution did you use?
It's possible I just got lucky buying a generic brand.
Thanks for your post!
Since there's no more film available for my oldest box cameras (from 1896), I also used photographic paper instead of film. The sensitivity is ISO 6 (with Fomaspeed Variant 312). Photographic paper isn't sensitive to red tones anyway.
This resulted in papernegative sizes...
Fantastic,Kevin!
Thanks for your contribution!
Your comparison should convince even the last skeptics that enlarging from paper negatives works very, very well!
I'm also fascinated by the "graininess from the old paper" in your second example.
I still have some (prehistoric 😂) old...
