What did you fix today? (part 2)

Adjusted the shutter speeds on my Pentax SP II using the shutter speed tester I built. The cam is worn so getting the speeds right was a bit of a compromise. Better than when I started and things got cleaned up a bit in the process.

    Simple DIY Shutter Speed Tester

I measured speeds yesterday on the far left and right of the film back and they measured the same as in the middle in all fast speeds on a Pentax Spotmatic SP II and an MX. On the MX all speeds were within tolerance based on this chart. The SP II needs a CLA on the slow speed escapement. Now, I...

It shouldn't be to difficult to add another sensor and give two read outs.

    Simple DIY Shutter Speed Tester

I built this shutter speed tester and it works quite well. As far as accuracy goes, I'll probably take it to my local photo store and have them compare it to their tester. My intent in building this was to have a tester for several Pentax cameras I'm working on. Some of them have slow and fast...

    Zeiss Ikon Contessa repair

I love this little folding gem. I got it from an elderly acquaintance that no longer used it. It's a nice compact well built piece of equipment. It needed a little work to get the light meter going and it still needs a good shutter CLA and adjustment.

Repairing a Pentax K1000 light meter

Thanks for watching and for the sub Andrew. That camera in 1975 was a Spotmatic. They had M42 screw on lenses. Those lenses were great. The meter problem on K1000s is pretty common I guess. The battery compartment gets all corroded if a battery goes bad and leaks. I've got a Pentax MX that...

Repairing a Pentax K1000 light meter

Happy New Year all. I've been doing some repairs on a few cameras and learning a lot about the inner workings and acquiring a few tools. I'm definitely on a learning curve and enjoying the ride. I have been shooting videos of these repairs and posting them on my YouTube channel and I'd like to...

Who in the heck uses a motor winder/drive on a film camera these days?

Back on the original subject of a power winder, they're very handy for cycling the shutter many times after a CLA. 🤣
