4x5 field camera that folds with a lens installed

If the camera has a graflock back, you can remove the GG frame and glass easily. Then focld the camera with the lens mounted, and see if it is too far to the rear for safety. On some wooden cameras, you can remove the rear plate w/GG, and fiod and see how far thens is sticking out. Check how...

    Intermediate large format questions/photography misadventures

One thing many who appreciated the Dagor were looking for, was the 87 Degree projection yielding a large image circle, Many miss the instruction and recommendation by Goerz, that the lens be stopped down a minimum of F22 and F32 was better. Remember that when the Dagors were first offered, the...

    Intermediate large format questions/photography misadventures

Well it is a good lens, but at inifinity, only has a 280mm IC, so not covering 8x10. Be well and keep making images. Rod

Have you considered that the F12.5 would have slightly flatter image projection, but with more diffraction than the F9.5 model? Of course the F9.5 would be brighter for composition and focus. Just somw notes. Rod

    Steinheil

IN 1865 Adolph Steinheil, having left his father's Optical business, produced 3 lenses a Periskop wide angle, a gauss type 4 element, and a 3 element so called medallian lens. He would later produce a series called Aplanat. This what your lens appears to be. See attached image It used...

Sold Schneider-Kreuznach Angulon 16.5cm/6.8 in Dialset Compur with issue

Lens does cover 8x10. Shutter needs a Clean Lube Adjust, CLA, Also many of the shutters had split escapements, wth fast speeds from around 1/60 up, on one and 1/30 and slower on a seperate escapement. Soulds like the slow speed escapement, especially needs a clean and adjust.

    Appreciation of Josef Sudek

He did a lot of work after the Nazis took over, especially at night because they did not want free Photography. And during the actual war, he could not go out with his camera, so he did many still lifes in his office/studio. Some of them I felt were quite like visual Haiku. They left him...

    Rodenstock 300mm F5.6 Macro-Sironar-N

Youngfolk, I have one of these lenses. They are superb for 5x7 and 8x10 size film. But you must have a bellows at least about 600mm in length for 1:1 reproduction. As Larry mentioned, Macros are poorer at Infinity. See below. They were made in the 1970s and 1980s, but not a lot due to...

    Hasselblad 500C/M Unusual Serial Number

Hasselblad bodies were built and held on shelves in the factory until sold, so you could have purchased a 77 body brand new in 79 or 80, and it would have the earlier Serial #, if their sales slowed down in different years. Good catch on the 3 digit alpahbetic code. Rod

    Poor focus

The first suggestion with a dowel works with a Ground glass, it does not work with a fresnel/ground glass. That is because the fresnel moves the focus 1/3 the thickness of the fresnel. Also, in reality 7-8x is a bit too strong for a focus aid, with 6x being the ceiling, and around 4x the least...
